INS Malvan, the second Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), is scheduled to be commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 22, 2026. Built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Kochi, the vessel is a significant achievement under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, with more than 80% indigenous content. Designed for anti-submarine warfare, coastal surveillance, and maritime security, INS Malvan will strengthen India's naval capabilities in shallow coastal waters. The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) became operational between India and the United Kingdom to strengthen bilateral trade, investment, and professional mobility. Dr Srinivasa Kumar Tummala has been appointed as the Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) by the Government of India with the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). He has over 30 years of experience in satellite oceanography, tsunami warning systems, climate services, disaster risk reduction, and coastal hazard management.
