World Snake Day is celebrated annually on July 16 to raise awareness about snakes and their importance in maintaining ecological balance. The observance highlights the need to conserve snake species, protect their natural habitats, and educate people about their ecological role. Snakes help control rodent populations, support biodiversity, and maintain healthy food chains. The day also aims to dispel common myths and fears associated with snakes through educational programs and conservation initiatives. Since its recognition in 2009, World Snake Day has encouraged wildlife experts, conservationists, and environmental organisations worldwide to promote snake conservation and foster a better understanding of these important reptiles.

India strengthened its partnership with the European Union during the third Trade and Technology Council (TTC) meeting in Brussels. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, semiconductors, renewable energy technologies, secure digital infrastructure, and resilient supply chains. Odisha approved a new agricultural marketing law to replace the Odisha Agricultural Produce Markets (OAPM) Act, 1956, with the objective of creating a more competitive, transparent, and farmer-centric agricultural marketing system. The new legislation aligns the state's framework with the Centre's Model Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Act, 2017. It promotes electronic trading, e-auctions, a unified statewide market, inter-state trade, and a single trading licence. The reforms also recognise warehouses, cold storages, and silos as market sub-yards while encouraging the participation of Farmer Producer Organisations, cooperatives, and self-help groups to improve market access for farmers.

Maharashtra increased the subsidy under the Pink E-Rickshaw Scheme from 20% to 40% to promote women's economic empowerment and self-employment. The revised subsidy also provides retrospective benefits to eligible women who had already purchased e-rickshaws under the scheme. Beneficiaries are required to contribute at least 10% of the vehicle cost, while the remaining amount can be financed through bank loans or interest-free deferred payment facilities offered by suppliers. The scheme is implemented through the Office of the Commissioner, Women and Child Development, Pune, with the state government empowered to reallocate beneficiary targets across districts.

Kolkata is set to introduce driverless metro train operations on its Green and Purple Lines, making it one of the few Indian cities with Grade of Automation 4 (GoA-4) metro services. These trains use advanced Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) technology, enabling automatic acceleration, braking, station stops, and door operations under continuous supervision from a central control room. The project also includes advanced safety features such as platform screen doors, smart signalling systems, emergency braking, and obstacle detection. Semicon 2.0 is a major government initiative approved by the Union Cabinet to strengthen India's semiconductor ecosystem with an allocated budget of ₹1.27 lakh crore. The programme aims to promote semiconductor design, manufacturing, research and development, advanced packaging, materials, and workforce development. It seeks to reduce dependence on imports, attract global semiconductor companies, and create a resilient domestic supply chain. West Bengal officially adopted the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the PM-SHRI scheme to facilitate the release of central education funds for the current financial year. Arunachal Pradesh is the state where researchers discovered two new species of solitary bees during a biodiversity documentation expedition in the Siang Valley. The newly identified species, Elaphropoda triangulata and Habropoda adi, belong to the Anthophorinae subfamily, which consists of ground-nesting solitary bees that play a crucial role as pollinators. The discovery was made by researchers from the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) and Felis Creations. Located in the Eastern Himalayas, Arunachal Pradesh is a globally recognised biodiversity hotspot and continues to contribute significantly to India's newly discovered plant and animal species.

Operation Vajra was a special operation under which the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) dismantled a high-tech Mephedrone manufacturing laboratory in Pune and arrested the key conspirators. The operation was carried out by the Preventive Branch of the Office of the Deputy Narcotics Commissioner, CBN, Neemuch. The illicit laboratory was seized in Maharashtra, while the accused were apprehended in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. All actions were taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The operation reflects the government's continued efforts to combat illegal drug production and strengthen narcotics law enforcement across the country.

Bank of Maharashtra launched FinSpark'26, a national-level cybersecurity hackathon, to encourage innovative solutions for emerging cyber threats in the banking sector. The event is centred on the theme "Securing the Future of Banking" and aims to strengthen cyber resilience while enhancing customer trust.
