New Delhi hosted the three-day AI Champions for Digital Governance Summit from July 13 to 15, 2026. The event was organised to strengthen artificial intelligence capabilities among public-sector leaders and featured training on Generative AI, Prompt Engineering, Data Extraction, and the practical use of the Claude AI model for administrative tasks. Organised through the collaboration of the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), the summit marked the first-ever training programme conducted by LBSNAA in New Delhi.

AIIMS Nagpur serves as the technical Centre of Excellence for the prevention and management of childhood Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) under a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Maharashtra. The institution plays a key role in strengthening research, capacity building, and healthcare initiatives related to childhood NCDs. It also collaborated with UNICEF India and PIB Western Zone to conduct a media workshop aimed at raising awareness about childhood obesity, diabetes, mental health disorders, and the importance of evidence-based reporting using official health data sources.

Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of cyber fraud complaints in India during the period from January to June 2026. The state registered around 1.85 lakh complaints, making it the most affected state in terms of reported cybercrime cases. The surge reflects the growing challenges associated with increasing digital transactions and online financial activities. Across the country, more than 12.7 lakh cyber fraud complaints were filed, with financial losses exceeding ₹10,178 crore. The data highlights the urgent need for stronger cybersecurity awareness, timely reporting of fraud, and adoption of safe digital practices by citizens.

World Youth Skills Day 2026 will be observed on July 15, 2026, to highlight the importance of equipping young people with vocational, technical, digital, and life skills needed for the future workforce. The day promotes continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration among governments, industries, and educational institutions. It also emphasises preparing youth for AI-driven workplaces, green economies, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, the observance aims to improve employability, reduce unemployment, support sustainable development, and encourage inclusive economic growth through quality skill development.

As of July 13, India’s net direct tax collections reached ₹6.51 lakh crore, compared to ₹5.59 lakh crore during the same period in the previous financial year. This represents a year-on-year growth of 16.4%. The increase was driven by higher corporate tax collections and improved non-corporate tax receipts, reflecting stronger corporate profitability, better tax compliance, rising incomes, and a healthy equity market. This growth was achieved despite the government issuing significantly higher tax refunds, highlighting the strength of overall tax revenue performance and the country's improving fiscal position.

Karnataka has announced the establishment of India's first government-driven Artificial Intelligence (AI) University as part of its vision to become an "AI-native State." The proposed university will focus on developing world-class AI talent, promoting advanced research, encouraging innovation, and strengthening collaboration among academia, industry, and government. Along with the university, the state will also establish an AI Hub to support startups, research, and commercialization of AI technologies. These initiatives aim to enhance Karnataka's leadership in artificial intelligence while contributing to India's growing digital economy and future-ready workforce.

MRF was recognised as India's most valuable and strongest tyre brand in the Brand Finance India 100 – 2026 report. The company also secured the distinction of being the third strongest tyre brand globally, with a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 87.7 out of 100. The rankings reflect MRF's strong market presence, customer trust, financial performance, and effective brand management. Established in 1946 and headquartered in Chennai, MRF manufactures tyres for a wide range of vehicles, including cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, agricultural machinery, and aircraft, making it one of India's leading tyre manufacturers.

Haldwani became the location of Uttarakhand’s first Geographical Indications (GI) Products Gallery, inaugurated at the Uttarakhand Forest Training Academy on July 14, 2026. The gallery showcases more than 30 GI-tagged products representing the state's rich agricultural heritage and traditional handicrafts. Exhibits include Tejpat, Munsiyari white rajma, Almora Lakhori chilli, Berinag tea, Aipan art, Ringal bamboo craft, and Chamoli wooden Ramman masks. The initiative promotes awareness of authentic regional products, supports local artisans and farmers, and helps preserve Uttarakhand’s unique cultural and traditional heritage.

R. Vairamuthu was conferred the 60th Jnanpith Award for 2025 in recognition of his outstanding lifetime contribution to Tamil literature. A celebrated poet, lyricist, and writer, he became the third Tamil author from Tamil Nadu to receive this prestigious honour, following Akilan and Jayakanthan. The award includes a cash prize of ₹11 lakh, a bronze statue of Goddess Vagdevi, and a citation. Vairamuthu is widely known for his poetry, novels, essays, and film lyrics, with notable works such as Kallikattu Ithikasam, which earned him the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2003.

New Delhi hosted the All India Water Secretaries’ Conference organised by the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti. Chaired by the Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri C. R. Patil, the conference focused on scientific water resource management, groundwater conservation, dam safety, and evidence-based policymaking. Key discussions included the nationwide #CatchTheRain 2026 campaign, progress of irrigation and water bodies censuses, reuse of treated water, groundwater conservation measures, and implementation of the State Water Reforms Framework across all States and Union Territories.
