West Bengal officially adopted the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the PM-SHRI scheme to facilitate the release of central education funds for the current financial year. Along with this decision, the state announced several education reforms, including an increase in PM POSHAN cooking costs, the introduction of gas-based cooking in schools, installation of solar panels and other infrastructure improvements, provision of safe drinking water in affected districts, and the recruitment of 12,000 teachers. The move also includes governance reforms and aligns the state's education system with national initiatives aimed at improving the quality, accessibility, and sustainability of school education.
