VD Satheesan was appointed as the next Chief Minister of Kerala after the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) achieved a decisive victory in the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections. The alliance secured 102 out of 140 seats, while the Indian National Congress emerged as the single largest party with 63 seats. VD Satheesan also won his sixth consecutive term as an MLA from the Paravur constituency. This result marked the end of the second consecutive term of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government led by Pinarayi Vijayan. Kerala’s capital is Thiruvananthapuram, and the state was formed on November 1, 1956.

The Union Cabinet approved the modernisation of Nagpur International Airport through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model by extending the lease period of the Airports Authority of India land granted to MIHAN India Limited. The project operations will be managed by GMR Nagpur International Airport Limited (GNIAL) for a concession period of 30 years. The modernisation aims to expand the airport’s capacity to handle up to 30 million passengers annually while strengthening cargo logistics in the Vidarbha region. The airport, officially known as Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, is also a major component of the Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) project.

India’s first Mega Greenfield Shipyard will be developed at Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu under a tripartite agreement involving HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, NSHIP-TN, and Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited. The project was established under the India-ROK ‘VOYAGES’ framework during the South Korean President’s state visit. The shipyard is expected to have an annual capacity of 2.5 Million Gross Tonnage and generate around 15,000 direct jobs. This initiative supports the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, which aims to make India one of the top five global shipbuilding nations by significantly increasing domestic shipbuilding capacity and maritime infrastructure development.

The third edition of the Kalam & Kavach strategic defence conference was inaugurated at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi by Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth. The conference focused on the vision of Jointness, Aatmanirbharta, and Innovation (JAI), while promoting indigenisation and international collaboration in defence technologies. Discussions covered AI-enabled warfare, autonomous systems, hypersonic technologies, quantum-enabled C4ISR capabilities, and emerging space threats. The event also highlighted the role of iDEX, MSMEs, and defence industrial corridors in strengthening India’s defence ecosystem. Tripura introduced a rotational work-from-home policy for Group C and Group D government employees to reduce fuel consumption and state expenditure. Under this arrangement, only 50 percent of employees attend offices physically each day, while the remaining staff work remotely on a weekly rotational basis. Employees working from home are required to stay electronically connected and must report immediately during emergencies. Essential and emergency services were exempted from the directive to ensure uninterrupted public services. Tripura, with its capital at Agartala, became a full-fledged state on January 21, 1972, under the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971.

FinBox announced the launch of Atlas, an Artificial Intelligence-native lending infrastructure suite designed to transform the digital lending ecosystem. Atlas replaces manual workflows with AI-driven agents capable of handling borrower onboarding, document verification, and operational decision-making throughout the credit lifecycle. The ‘Lion’ Species Spotlight Programme was inaugurated at Sasan Gir in Gujarat by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav as a precursor to the IBCA Summit 2026. The programme highlighted the success of Asiatic lion conservation efforts in the Greater Gir Landscape, where the lion population reached an estimated 891 individuals in 2025, reflecting a 32% increase since the 2020 census. The initiative aligns with Project Lion, launched in 2020 for long-term conservation and habitat restoration. Gujarat remains the only natural habitat of Asiatic lions in the world, making the state globally significant for wildlife conservation and biodiversity protection.

Operation 777 is a strategic initiative launched in connection with the Kaal Bhairava autonomous combat aircraft programme developed by Flying Wedge Defence & Aerospace (FWDA). The initiative focuses on creating manufacturing and integration partnerships across 7 continents and 77 countries, strengthening India’s global defence manufacturing presence. Under this initiative, FWDA established its first overseas manufacturing facility in Portugal in collaboration with SKETCHPIXEL LDA. The Kaal Bhairava platform is a Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) autonomous combat aircraft equipped with advanced features such as AI-driven target recognition, encrypted communication systems, and swarm coordination capabilities, representing a significant milestone in India’s indigenous defence technology development.

Uber partnered with the Adani Group to establish its first data centre in India as part of a strategic technology and infrastructure collaboration. The agreement was finalised after a meeting between Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi and Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad. The facility is expected to become operational by the end of 2026 and will support Uber’s technological expansion in India. The project aligns with Adani Group’s broader vision of investing $100 billion in renewable-energy-powered and AI-ready data centres by 2035. The infrastructure is being developed through Adani Connex, which is building a large-scale five-gigawatt data centre platform across India.

Andhra Pradesh signed an agreement with the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN), the Department of Telecommunications, BSNL, APBIL, and APSFL for implementing the Amended BharatNet Programme. The Central Government approved financial support of ₹2,432 crore for the project. The initiative aims to strengthen digital infrastructure by covering 13,426 Gram Panchayats and providing on-demand connectivity to thousands of villages. It also plans to facilitate more than 5 lakh rural home fibre connections. BharatNet is a flagship programme intended to expand broadband connectivity to rural India, while DBN, formerly known as USOF, funds major telecom and digital inclusion projects across the country.
