Khurasani Imli, a unique fruit obtained from the African Baobab tree (Adansonia digitata), is closely associated with the historic town of Mandu in the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. It was awarded a Geographical Indication (GI) Tag to recognise its distinct identity, heritage, and strong connection to the region. Mandu hosts India's largest natural cluster of Baobab trees, and the area's specific soil and climatic conditions contribute to the fruit's unique characteristics. The GI Tag protects the authenticity of the product and preserves its cultural, historical, and ecological significance for future generations.

International Yoga Day is observed every year on June 21. In 2026, people across the world will celebrate this day to promote the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of yoga. The date was chosen because it coincides with the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, the longest day of the year, which holds special significance in yogic traditions. The United Nations officially recognised June 21 as the International Day of Yoga following a proposal made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. Since its first celebration in 2015, the event has grown into a global movement promoting health, wellness, mindfulness, and healthy living.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) partnered with Schoolnet India Limited to provide a USD 10 million financing package aimed at strengthening digital education infrastructure across India. The initiative seeks to benefit approximately 4.5 million students by supporting digital learning in 30,000 government schools. Key objectives include establishing computer laboratories in at least 1,000 schools, creating 58,000 digital classrooms, and training over 56,000 teachers in digital pedagogy and equitable teaching practices. The Indian Air Force has decided to acquire nine retired SEPECAT Jaguar fighter aircraft from the United Kingdom to support its ageing Jaguar fleet. These aircraft will not be inducted into active service but will be used as a source of spare parts, including engines, avionics systems, airframe structures, and other critical components. Since Jaguar production has ended and India remains the only country operating the aircraft in frontline service, obtaining spare parts has become increasingly difficult. This acquisition will help extend the operational life of existing Jaguar squadrons and support the IAF in maintaining combat readiness until newer fighter aircraft gradually replace the fleet.

The ₹4,000-crore loan for Haryana’s Jal Sanrakshit Haryana Water Security Project was approved by the World Bank to support sustainable water management and irrigation development in the state. The project aims to improve water conservation, modernise canals, enhance groundwater recharge, promote treated wastewater reuse, and increase irrigation efficiency. Haryana faces significant challenges such as groundwater depletion, waterlogging, and rising agricultural water demand. The funding will help rehabilitate hundreds of canals, upgrade irrigation infrastructure, and benefit large areas of agricultural land. The initiative is expected to strengthen long-term water security, improve farm productivity, and support climate-resilient development across Haryana.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commissioned three indigenously built naval vessels—INS Agray, INS Dunagiri, and INS Sanshodhak—at the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata, West Bengal, on 21 June 2026. BITS Pilani partnered with Axis Bank to establish the Axis Bank–BITS Industry Research, Technology & Innovation Park at its Hyderabad campus.
