A fires 5 shots to B's 3 but A kills only once in 3 shots while B kills once in 2 shots. When B has missed 27 times, A has killed:
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the total number of shots be x. Then,
Shots fired by A = | 5 | x |
8 |
Shots fired by B = | 3 | x |
8 |
Killing shots by A = | 1 | of | 5 | x | = | 5 | x |
3 | 8 | 24 |
Shots missed by B = | 1 | of | 3 | x | = | 3 | x |
2 | 8 | 16 |

This can also be solved practically rather than theoretically.
It is given that B has missed 27 times and B kills once for 2 shots. So, total number of shots B has got is 27*2=54.
And also it is given that A gets 5 shots while B gets 3 shots. So,.
54/3=18.
The number of shots A gets is= 18*5=90.
But A kills once in every 3 shots, so 90/3=30.
No of birds killed by A is=30.

Given:No of shots=8(A=5,B=3)
Suceeded shots of A= 1 of 3,so 1/3
Suceeded shots of B= 1 of 2,so 1/2
Failure shots of B=27
so Suceeded shots by A=1/3 of 5/8x=5/24*x
Suceeded shots by B=1/2 of 3/8x=3/16*x
therefore failure shots,3x/16=27 (because 27 is missed shots as per question),so x=144
Therefore succeded shots by A=5x/24 *144= 30
Suceeded shots of A= 1 of 3,so 1/3
Suceeded shots of B= 1 of 2,so 1/2
Failure shots of B=27
so Suceeded shots by A=1/3 of 5/8x=5/24*x
Suceeded shots by B=1/2 of 3/8x=3/16*x
therefore failure shots,3x/16=27 (because 27 is missed shots as per question),so x=144
Therefore succeded shots by A=5x/24 *144= 30

How is the no. of failure shots equal to the no. of succeded shots.. i.e. 3x/18=27??

No. of failure shots equal to the no. of succeded shots
because B suceeds once in 2 shots
so probability of success is 1/2
probability of failure 1-(probability of success) =>1-1/2 = 1/2
because B suceeds once in 2 shots
so probability of success is 1/2
probability of failure 1-(probability of success) =>1-1/2 = 1/2

When B shots 2 it missed 1.
So, when B missed 27 B shoots (27*2) = 54.
When B shoots 3 at the same time A shoots 5.
So, total shoots of A = (5/3)*54 = 5*18= 90.
When A shoots 3 it killed 1.
So, when A shoots 90 it killed = 90/3 = 30.

When total no of shots = 8.
A fired 5 times of 8 = 5/8.
B fires 3 times of 8.
Hence B's fired = 3/8.
A succeed 3 times in 5/8 shots.
Hence A succeed = 5/24 times similarly.
B succeed 2 times in 3/8 SHOTS.
B SUCCEED = 3/16 times and also failed 3/16 times.
If total no shots = x .
Then,
B's failed time = 3x/16.
Since,
B failed 27 time = 3x/16.
27=3x/16.
X=144=total no of shots.
A's total shot=failed+succeed.
=27+27=54.
B's shot=total-A's shot.
=144-54=90.
Then,
B's succeed =90/3=30.
27=3x/16.
X=144=total no of shots.
A's total shot=failed+succeed.
=27+27=54.
B's shot=total-A's shot.
=144-54=90.
Then,
B's succeed =90/3=30.

It is given that if A fires 5 shots B fires only 3 times.
It is given that p(A)=1/3 and p(B)=1/2.
It is also given that A missed 27 times so he fired totally 54 times.
From the above we can calculate that totally A fired 90 times.
So total successful firings by A=90*1/3=30.
It is given that p(A)=1/3 and p(B)=1/2.
