If 6th March, 2005 is Monday, what was the day of the week on 6th March, 2004?
Sunday
Saturday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Answer: Option
Explanation:

The year 2004 is a leap year. So, it has 2 odd days.

But, Feb 2004 not included because we are calculating from March 2004 to March 2005. So it has 1 odd day only.

The day on 6th March, 2005 will be 1 day beyond the day on 6th March, 2004.

Given that, 6th March, 2005 is Monday.

6th March, 2004 is Sunday (1 day before to 6th March, 2005).

6-mar-2004.

=> (2000 + 4) + jan + feb + 6 days.
0 odd days + 2 odd days + 31 + 29 + 6.
=> total odd days = 68.
=> 68/7 =9 weeks + 5 0dd days.
=> given sum is 6th - mar - 2005 is monday, monday + 5 odd days = saturday.

First all find actual day on 6th march 2004 that is Saturday.

Find day on 6th march 2005 that is Sunday in actual.

But they shift it by 1 day as Monday.

(So in your answer you should also shift it by one day).

Than it becomes Sunday.

@All.

This question is given in RS Agarwal and the answer given in a book is Saturday. But i think the correct answer is Sunday, beacuse we did not consider feb month of 2004(so odd day is 1).

So, the correct answer is sunday.

I Think the Both the two logics are correct but Sunday is correct when we treat it is a normal year, otherwise, the second logic is correct because it has a leap year correction, so the answer is Saturday.

1st of all need to see year ie. , leap year or non leap year, if we want to find before year go back the no.of odd days day ie., 2005 non leap year only 1 odd day so our answer is "Sunday".

Its should be Saturday !!
2000 = ( 0 Odd days )
2003 = ( 3 Odd days )

2004 = (Jan 31 + FEB 29 + March 6 = 66 )
66/7 = 63 ( 3 odd days )

Total = 0+3+3 = 6

Its Saturday!!!!

Saturday is the correct answer for 6 March 2004.

Sunday is correct on 6 March 2005.

So they just added 1 to confuse from Saturday to Sunday and from Sunday to Monday respectively.

I think the correct answer is Saturday, because 2004 is divisible by 4. Then the next year may be leap year. Leap year has 2 odd days. Then subtract 2 days. Then answer is Saturday.

@Anil.

But 6 march 2005 was not Monday in orig calendar but actually it was Sunday while 6 march 2005 was Sunday and 2004 it was sat so logically correct and the answer is Sunday.

It is so easy.

One year less from March 2004 to March 2005. It is not including Fab 2004. So it is one year mean 1 odd day. 6 March 2005 is Monday so 6 March 2004 will be Sunday.
