If 6^{th} March, 2005 is Monday, what was the day of the week on 6^{th} March, 2004?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
The year 2004 is a leap year. So, it has 2 odd days.
But, Feb 2004 not included because we are calculating from March 2004 to March 2005. So it has 1 odd day only.
The day on 6^{th} March, 2005 will be 1 day beyond the day on 6^{th} March, 2004.
Given that, 6^{th} March, 2005 is Monday.
6^{th} March, 2004 is Sunday (1 day before to 6^{th} March, 2005).

Jan (1) , feb (4) , mar (4) , apr (0) , may (2) , jun (5) , jul (0) , aug (3) , sep (6) , oct (1) , nov (4) , dec (6). Learn it through any trick.
Weeks:
Sun (1), mon (2), tues (3) fri (6), satur (0 or 7).
Start:
Check if condition: 6th march 2005.
Step : 6 (date) + 4 (march code) + 05 (year) + 05 (date) /4 = 6+4+5+1 = 16/7 = 2 odd days means (monday) but year is 20th century so, 1 is apply that's means 2  1 = 1 odd day which means sunday. But option said monday that's means add +1 means 1+1 = 2 odd days (monday).
Check then condition: 6th march 2004.
Step : 6 (date) + 4 (march code) + 04 (year) + 04 (year) /4 = 6+4+4+1 = 15/7 = 1 odd days means (sunday) but year is 20th century so, 1 is apply that's means 11 = 0 odd (saturday) but 2004 is leap year means again 1 that's means 6 odd (friday) but from if condition we add +1 at last according to question. It means we will +1 here also then 6 + 1 = 7 or 0 odd day means saturday.

The given data is 'If 6th March, 2005 is Monday'  here we have to consider it as Monday (but actually 6th March, 2005 is Sunday).

There we need to follow 6 steps
1. Last two digits of the year in given is 04
2. Divide by 4 of the year is 01
3. Take the date in given is 06
4. Take the month in given is 03 (according to the formulas)
5. Take the year in given is 06.
(Add all the values  04+01+06+03+06=20).
6. Divided by 7 of the values of 20 is 06
Here 06 is the value but we have one odd day in the year, let we add that the odd day in it is 06+01 = 07.
Hence the answer is 07 which means it is Sunday.
(*0 or 07 is same)
1. Last two digits of the year in given is 04

4. Take the month in given is 03 (according to the formulas)
5. Take the year in given is 06.
(Add all the values  04+01+06+03+06=20).

Here 06 is the value but we have one odd day in the year, let we add that the odd day in it is 06+01 = 07.
Hence the answer is 07 which means it is Sunday.

The Correct answer is Sunday because this is calculate only 2005 march  2004 march not included February.
For example; if the year consider leap year the February month 29 day.
But if the year consider non leap year the February month 28 days only.
Therefore 2005 is non leap year and this contains only 1 odd day.
But 2004 is leap year therefore this year contains 2 odd day but February month not included therefore this month same 1 odd days i.e Monday  1= Sunday.
For example; if the year consider leap year the February month 29 day.
But if the year consider non leap year the February month 28 days only.
Therefore 2005 is non leap year and this contains only 1 odd day.
But 2004 is leap year therefore this year contains 2 odd day but February month not included therefore this month same 1 odd days i.e Monday  1= Sunday.

Hi @Roji I can explain by your formula.
Day+Month code+(x1990)+(x1990)/4.
Step 1: First you should calculate the day for the first mentioned date.
i.e 4 for 6th march 2005.
[6+4+105+26=141/7 it should be Sunday since rem is 1].
But it was given Monday so it is shifted by one day.
Step 2: If you calculate for 6th mar' 2004 you will get Saturday.
So to get answer you should shift the obtained answer by one day. It works for all problems.

Find 6 March 2004 what will the Day ?
So, 2004 we consider last two digit then 04 also than add in 100 ; 100+04=104 i.e 26.
Again we add 104+26(and given Month is March so a.c to this we can add 3) +03+(given date is 06);
FInally add: 104+26+03+06 = 139.
Again 139 is divided by 7;
So 139/7 remainder is 06.
Result is 0 is Sunday, 01 Mon, 02,Tues, 04 wed, 05 Thu; 06 sat;
So final ans is 06 (Saturday).
