6.
If 6th March, 2005 is Monday, what was the day of the week on 6th March, 2004?
Sunday
Saturday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Answer: Option
Explanation:

The year 2004 is a leap year. So, it has 2 odd days.

But, Feb 2004 not included because we are calculating from March 2004 to March 2005. So it has 1 odd day only.

The day on 6th March, 2005 will be 1 day beyond the day on 6th March, 2004.

Given that, 6th March, 2005 is Monday.

6th March, 2004 is Sunday (1 day before to 6th March, 2005).

No it's not include leap year 2 odd days in this question.

@All.

Just think about it this way 1 year = 1 odd day and 1 leap year = 2 odd days because February is 29 days.

So 2 odd days but in this case 2004 is also a leap year the question started on March 6th so January and February is not needed in this question so remaining only one odd day in this year Sunday is the answer, not Saturday.

If see the year 2004 is a leap year and it has 2 odd day but calculation is need from 6th March 2004 so February month is left.

so odd days calculation from 6th March 2004 to 6th March 2005=(25+30+31+30+31+31+30+31+30+31+31+28+6)=365/7=1 odd days.

So the day on 6th March 2005 is 1 day beyond the day on 6th March 2004.

But, 6th March 2005 being Monday.

6th March 2004 was Sunday.

6th march 2005 is Monday.
6th march 2004=?

6th march has common so we can leave this.

But we have to calculate 2005.

From 2005 we have to collect 5 and divided by 4.
Because after 4 year we get leap year.
So 5/4=1.
So, we can get 5-1=4.

For 2004 we have to calculate same for this.
4/4=1.
4-1=3.

After that we have to add 4+3=7.
7/7 because 7 days in a week=1.

1 means Sunday.

1600 years ---> 0 odd days.
400 years -----> 0 odd days.
remaining 3 years ------> 3 ordinary years.
= 3 x 1 = 3 odd days.

Now 31(jan) + 29(feb leap year) + 6(march) = 66 days = 9 weeks and 3 odd days.
So, the total odd days = 0 + 3 + 3 = 6 odd days = Saturday.

So Why not I'm getting the given answer. Please clarify for me.

It is correct!

If you calculate the day on 6th March 2005 then it is actually Sunday but in question given that it is Monday. It means there is +1 with the actual date. Similarly When we calculate 6th march 2004 then it will be Saturday but according to the condition provided in question we have to add +1 then it will be Sunday. That's why Sunday is the right answer.

Answer of 6/3/2004 as sunday is wrong becoz 1/2/2004 was sunday and 2004 was a leap year so leap yr has 29 days so 29/2/2004 was a sunday so 1/3/2004 will be a monday so 6/3/2004 will be saturday and 6/3/2005 will be sunday becoz31/1/2005 will be monday and1/2/2005 will be tuesday since 2005 is not a leap yr so 1/3/2005will be tuesday so 6/3/2005 will be a Sunday.

Really its very simple...if u think in dis way...
6th march 2005 is monday.
we need find what is the day in 2004 march 6th??
2004 is leap year so no of odd days is 2.but we need to calculate after march not feb. so only one odd day.
if 2004 march is xth day then 2005 march is monday.
so x+1 day is monday...then xth day will we sunday...

i hope u got d point...

If you want check calender. your logic was correct for normal years but 2004 is leap year so (-2) need to be done. other best way of solving is

2004 = 2000+3years+march 6
= (0 odd days)+(3 odd days)+(jan(3odd days)+feb(1odd day as it is leapyear)+(march 6=60dddays))
=3+3+1+6
=13(7+6)
=6 odd days(6 means sat)

Yes, its Sunday. The shortcut to remember is that after every leap year (only after Feb month) the day of the month increases by 1 then its previous year.

Eg. 6 mar 2002 - Wed => Jan1 2002-Tue.

6 mar 2003 - Thurs => Jan1 2003- Wed.

6 mar 2004 - Fri => Jan1 2004- Thu (2004 IS A LEAP YEAR).

6 mar 2005 - Sat => Jan1 2005- Sat.
