A very good discussion is going on with the true line: A straight trees are cut first. This line true almost every time, WE know the Honesty is the best policy, but when it exceed the limit, people started to take advantage of you.
An honest person always good and true for yourself and for others. They never have the intention to hurt you. But when person against you, try to take advantage and dominate you. It becomes wrong that time. They should do like others. An honest person always wins, because liar person can not be stable.

According to me, a person should honest. But in this generation honesty is missing in everyone. Depending upon the situation we will change our life. So, honesty is the important thing our satisfied life. Everyone knows our character to express our situation.
If conscience is here, then honesty is automatically role play in the situation. But, Straight trees are cut first. This is true. But everyone knows what will be true in our life. Unless otherwise, we change our lives. Be honest as you can.

Honesty, modesty, ethics, morality these are values imbibed into a person. It cannot be compromised. Just because straight trees are cut first an honest person should not stop being honest cause for an honest person it is like oxygen. If he resorts to dishonesty it will kill him in self-guilty. So irrespective of anything we should never compromise with honesty. We may be rebuked at times for our over honesty but we always should remember that honesty is a great virtue and the right person always praises honesty. Thank you.

Hi, No doubt Honesty is the best policy but it makes you to suffer sometimes, if you want to suffer, be honest and for the sufferings definitely you may be paid in the long run. Further a tree can't be compared with human being because a tree whether it is straight or curved has to cut or fell down, it is rule of nature, a truth. One must be honest sufferings are part of life, no suffering means no taste in life. Sufferings make us understand what life actually means from ground level. Best of luck for honest people. !

We get hurt by seeing dishonest people around us then why should we hurt those few honest people by being dishonest? There should be few people who are honest and don't hurt people. May be we get hurt or loose opportunities by being honest.
But we can stand in front of mirror and proudly say, "I don't care what people think about me or what I have got by being honest, I have done my job honestly and I know that one day my good deeds will get counted. I am an Honest person and I know that I am wiser than all of you".

What my opinion honestly depends on situation to situation and person to person and you have to wisely consider all the aspects based on the scenario, have to take the call as per suitability. It's game of your mind and situations you can not be honest with everyone sometimes honesty put you in trouble. So think wisely before the act. For instance, if someone kidnaps my child so surely kidnapper will call me and demands Ransome and I will be treated not to inform the police, in this case, I not going, to be honest.

This is true, honesty is not always the best policy. Some situations or places require you to be silent or not speak out. Some robbers may enter your house, and they may ask for your locker key so they don't need to break, as it may cause noise and awaken others. If people staying in the house give the key, then they take everything and leave instead they tell someone has taken it out, and they may take a long time to come, and even they don't have the option of breaking or waiting till the person returns.

But Yes this is also true that Honesty is the best policy. If you will not get judge today it will get tomorrow you will get and for this it is necessary to be honest. Its need of TODAY.

I think as we progress meaning of honesty has also changed. Just speaking the truth does not mean that we are honest and it is not that we have to always speak truth to our parents, partners and friend. I think honesty is something which must come from inside. If we talk of our nation, we only talk of corruption and all but we in fact are not honest to ourself as we just don't want to take any initiative. So in my opinion honesty is something more than talking true and then only honesty is best policy.

Question is when is honesty too much honesty? Is blunt the same as being inconsiderate of another's feelings and how they will be affected by your opinion. Straight trees are cut first so yes, it achieves a height but that will forever be the height it will EVER achieve since it is now cut down. While other trees still survive to grow. Straight trees are cut quickly, other trees are able to survive and while it may take awhile the other tree will grow to be bigger since it was never cut down.
