Sharmila Dhankar created history by winning the gold medal in the Women's F57 Shot Put event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 with a season-best throw of 9.81 meters. Her victory marked India's first-ever gold medal in para athletics at the Commonwealth Games and ended the country's 20-year wait for a para athletics medal at the event. Sharmila also became the first Indian woman to win a para athletics medal at the Commonwealth Games. Alongside her, Shilpa Shyla secured the bronze medal with a personal-best throw of 7.26 meters, giving India its first-ever double medal finish in the same para athletics event at the Commonwealth Games.

Air India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Saudi Arabia's national carrier, Saudia, in July 2026 to strengthen their strategic partnership and expand codeshare connectivity between India and Saudi Arabia. The agreement includes plans to broaden existing codeshare arrangements, assess terminal co-location at selected airports, and explore cooperation between their frequent flyer programmes. The partnership may also extend to Air India Express and Saudi low-cost airline flyadeal. Since its re-acquisition by the Tata Group in 2022, Air India has significantly expanded its global network through numerous codeshare agreements and interline partnerships, enhancing international connectivity for passengers.

Esha Singh won the gold medal in the women's 25m pistol event at the ISSF World Cup 2026 held in Hangzhou, China. The 21-year-old shooter delivered an outstanding performance in the final by scoring 40 hits, defeating China's Zhang Yueyue, who secured the silver medal with 37 hits. Raghu Vamsi Aerospace Group announced a ₹600 crore investment to establish an integrated nickel-based superalloy manufacturing facility in Telangana on July 23, 2026. The 50-acre plant will have an annual production capacity of 5,000 tonnes, with commercial production expected to begin in January 2028. The facility will manufacture round bars, wires, forgings, castings, and tungsten carbide powders for strategic sectors such as aerospace, defence, nuclear energy, and gas turbines. Led by Dr. S.K. Gujarat launched the e-Zero FIR system on July 27, 2026, to simplify and speed up the reporting of cyber financial fraud cases. The initiative allows victims to file complaints through the 1930 National Cybercrime Helpline without visiting a police station. Once a complaint is registered, an e-Zero FIR is automatically generated and electronically forwarded to the concerned police station for immediate action. Developed in collaboration with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the system aims to improve response times, increase the chances of recovering defrauded money, strengthen cybercrime investigations, and promote technology-driven policing and citizen services.

Ajaya Babu won the silver medal in the men's 79kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow with a combined lift of 330kg, consisting of 149kg in the snatch and 181kg in the clean and jerk. He narrowly missed the gold medal by just 1kg, as Malaysia's Erry Hidayat Muhammad secured first place with a Games record total of 331kg. During the competition, Ajaya also equalled the Commonwealth Games record with his total lift. His silver medal became India's sixth weightlifting medal at the Games, further strengthening the country's reputation as a leading force in international weightlifting.
