Lipfendra (enlicitide) became the world's first once-daily oral PCSK9 inhibitor after receiving approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on July 16, 2026. Developed by Merck, the medicine works by blocking the PCSK9 protein, allowing more LDL receptors in the liver to remove bad cholesterol from the bloodstream. Clinical trials showed that it reduced LDL cholesterol levels by 56% to 60%. It is intended for adults with hypercholesterolemia, including familial hypercholesterolemia, and is used alongside statins and a healthy diet to achieve better cholesterol control.

The trophy tour for the 135th IndianOil Durand Cup reached Guwahati on July 17, 2026, ahead of the tournament scheduled from July 25 to August 23, 2026. Goa achieved a significant biodiversity milestone with the publication of the Goa Bird Checklist 8.0, which recorded a total of 502 bird species in the state. The White Rabbit Technology-based Indian Standard Time (IST) Distribution Demonstration Network was inaugurated in Bengaluru at the Regional Reference Standards Laboratory (RRSL) in Jakkur. The initiative, launched under the vision of "One Nation, One Time," aims to establish a uniform and highly precise time synchronisation system across India. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) celebrated its 98th Foundation Day in New Delhi by launching 43 improved crop varieties aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and resilience. The United Kingdom launched the Storm Fighter program on July 17, 2026, through the Royal Air Force (RAF) to develop autonomous Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA). The initiative aims to establish Europe's first sixth-generation air force by integrating "loyal wingman" drones with crewed fighter aircraft such as the Typhoon, F-35B Lightning II, and the future Tempest fighter.
