Serhii Koretskyi was appointed as the Prime Minister of Ukraine on July 16, 2026, after receiving approval from the Verkhovna Rada with 289 votes in favour. He was nominated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and succeeded Yulia Svyrydenko as part of a significant wartime government reshuffle. Before becoming Prime Minister, Koretskyi served as the Chief Executive Officer of Naftogaz, Ukraine’s largest state-owned oil and gas company. His appointment is expected to strengthen governance and support the country's administration during ongoing national and geopolitical challenges.

Gujarat secured the top position among India's large states in the first Investment Friendliness Index (IFI) released by NITI Aayog, achieving a score of 56.6 out of 100. The state performed exceptionally well due to its strong infrastructure, efficient ports, and reliable power supply, making it an attractive destination for investments. The index evaluates states and Union Territories across eight pillars, including infrastructure, business climate, regulatory ease, and government policy. It is intended to help governments identify strengths and areas for improvement to create a more investment-friendly environment and support economic growth across the country.

Maharashtra is implementing the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), a Mission Mode Project of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs under the Digital India Programme. The initiative follows the vision of “One Nation One Application” and aims to digitise the functioning of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. With an estimated implementation cost of around ₹48 crore in the state, NeVA is expected to make legislative proceedings paperless, improve efficiency, enhance transparency, encourage public participation, and modernise legislative processes through the use of digital technology.

Alliance Air launched the first direct flight connecting NAMO Airport in Daman with Delhi, significantly reducing travel time from 8–10 hours by road to about 2.5 hours by air. As a government-owned regional airline operating under the UDAN scheme, Alliance Air plays a key role in improving regional connectivity across India. The new route benefits the industrial corridor extending from Palghar in Maharashtra to Valsad in Gujarat. The initiative also supports the government's objective of expanding regional aviation infrastructure by developing new airports and improving air connectivity to underserved regions.

Andy Burnham has been confirmed as the leader of the UK Labour Party and is set to assume the office of Prime Minister. He succeeds Sir Keir Starmer, who resigned from the party leadership. Burnham became the Labour leader unopposed and is expected to focus on restoring public trust, strengthening public services, promoting regional economic development, and encouraging greater local government autonomy. The ICMR i-DRONE study was conducted in Telangana's Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district in collaboration with AIIMS Bibinagar and the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP). The initiative evaluated drone-assisted transport of sputum samples for tuberculosis diagnosis among 840 participants. It reduced the median diagnosis time from 15 days to just 5 days while significantly lowering patients' out-of-pocket expenditure from ₹9,451 to ₹91. The project also established a hub-and-spoke healthcare network connecting Primary Health Centres, sub-centres, and TB units, demonstrating how drone technology can improve healthcare delivery and strengthen medical supply chains.

Tata Group retained its position as India's most valuable brand in the Brand Finance India 100 Most Valuable Brands 2026 report, marking its 10th consecutive year at the top. The group achieved a brand value of $33.6 billion, reflecting its strong market presence and diversified business portfolio. The report also highlighted Infosys as the second most valuable brand and LIC Group as the third. India's top 100 brands were collectively valued at $252.8 billion, registering a 7% annual increase, demonstrating the continued strength and growth of Indian businesses across multiple sectors.

India and Belgium launched their inaugural Strategic Dialogue on July 15, 2026, at the Egmont Palace in Brussels, establishing the first formal mechanism for regular high-level strategic engagement between the two countries. India was represented by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, while Belgium was represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Prévot. The dialogue focused on strengthening cooperation in clean energy, digital technologies, life sciences, chemicals, logistics, semiconductor supply chains, and defence and security. The initiative reflects the commitment of both nations to deepen bilateral ties and address emerging global and geopolitical challenges through closer collaboration.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved two railway multitracking projects covering the states of Odisha and Jharkhand to strengthen logistics, rail connectivity, and freight movement. The projects include the Paradeep–Haridaspur doubling and the Rajkharsawan–Dangoaposi fourth line, with a total investment of ₹3,907 crore and a completion target of 2030–31. Together, they will add about 145 km to the Indian Railways network, improve connectivity for around 1,526 villages and 14 lakh people, boost the transportation of key minerals, and support the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan through integrated infrastructure development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Advanced Mother and Child Centre and the Advanced Neurosciences Centre at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh. During the event, he also laid the foundation stone for a 150-bed Critical Care Block under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM). These projects are aimed at improving access to advanced healthcare services, strengthening emergency and critical care infrastructure, supporting medical education and research, and providing better maternal, child, and neurological healthcare for people in Chandigarh and the surrounding regions.
