World MSME Day is observed annually on June 27 to recognise the vital role of Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in promoting economic growth, generating employment, encouraging innovation, and supporting sustainable development. The observance also raises awareness about the challenges faced by MSMEs, such as limited access to finance, infrastructure, and technology. It encourages governments, financial institutions, and development organisations to create a supportive environment that enables these enterprises to thrive. Celebrating the day highlights the importance of entrepreneurship and the contribution of MSMEs to inclusive and resilient economies worldwide.

India organised its first-ever mango promotion events in Iceland to expand the global reach of its premium mango varieties and strengthen agricultural exports to Northern Europe. The initiative was organised by the Embassy of India in Reykjavik and APEDA, showcasing renowned varieties such as Dasheri, Chausa, Langra, and Kesar. The events also highlighted opportunities under the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which is expected to improve market access and trade cooperation. Iceland represents a promising premium market for imported fruits, making it an important destination for India's export diversification strategy.

The Drugs Rules, 1945, were formulated under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, to regulate the manufacture, distribution, and sale of drugs and cosmetics in India. These rules provide the legal framework for ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicines available in the country. Recent amendments have expanded the QR code-based traceability system to include vaccines, antimicrobials, anti-cancer drugs, and narcotic and psychotropic medicines. This initiative aims to curb counterfeit drugs, improve supply chain transparency, combat antimicrobial resistance, and strengthen public health through better monitoring and authentication of high-risk medicines.

Pradeep Singh Kharola, a 1985-batch IAS officer and former Civil Aviation Secretary, was appointed as the Executive Advisor to Air India Chairman N. Chandrasekaran. He was also inducted as a full member of the airline's management committee. His appointment is intended to support the leadership transition as CEO Campbell Wilson prepares to step down. Operation Amistad is India's humanitarian relief mission launched to assist Venezuela following a devastating earthquake. Conducted under India's Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) framework, the mission includes relief supplies, medical equipment, portable hospitals, and rescue teams to support affected communities. The Indian Air Force deployed C-17 Globemaster aircraft to transport aid and personnel. INS Udaygiri and INS Kavaratti concluded their port call in Vietnam as part of India's operational deployment in the Southeast Asia region. During the visit, the Indian Navy engaged in professional interactions and bilateral maritime exercises with the Vietnam People's Navy. The deployment, led by the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, was conducted under India's Act East Policy and the MAHASAGAR vision, focusing on maritime security, operational cooperation, and strengthening defence ties. Ashok Dinda was appointed as the Head of Vision 2028 and the fast bowling coach by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). The 5th India-Tajikistan Joint Working Group (JWG) on Counter-Terrorism was held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, on June 24, 2026. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in combating terrorism, violent extremism, radicalisation, terrorist financing, and drug trafficking. Both countries also emphasised preventing the misuse of technology for terrorist activities and strengthening collaboration through international platforms such as the United Nations, SCO-RATS, and the Eurasian Group. The GO-EAST (Government of Odisha Eastern Investment Accelerator and Special Task Force) policy was launched by Odisha to promote industrial growth, attract fresh investments, and speed up project implementation. The initiative includes a dedicated investment facilitation platform, faster approvals, real-time project tracking, and a specialised GO-EAST Cell supported by the Go SWIFT digital monitoring module. The policy also focuses on developing backward districts by providing additional incentives for non-mineral-based industries. India completed its first commercial sea shipment of Banganapalle mangoes to Singapore, marking an important milestone in expanding agricultural exports through cost-effective and sustainable logistics. The 5-metric-tonne consignment was coordinated by APEDA under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry in collaboration with the ICAR–Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture (CISH). Dispatched on June 11, 2026, and delivered on June 24, 2026, the shipment demonstrated the feasibility of sea freight for exporting premium fruits. This initiative is expected to improve global market access for Indian mangoes while reducing transportation costs and environmental impact.
