The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) launched its first structured Bug Bounty Program to enhance the security of the Aadhaar digital ecosystem. The initiative invites ethical hackers and cybersecurity researchers to identify vulnerabilities in important digital platforms such as the UIDAI official website, the myAadhaar portal, and the Secure QR Code system. A panel of 20 cybersecurity experts has been selected to conduct systematic testing of these platforms and report any weaknesses. Rewards will be provided depending on the severity of the vulnerabilities discovered. The program aims to strengthen digital identity protection and ensure that sensitive personal data linked to Aadhaar remains secure from emerging cyber threats.

Iran officially announced its withdrawal from the FIFA World Cup 2026, which is scheduled to be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The decision was confirmed by Iran’s Sports Minister Ahmad Donyamali and is linked to escalating geopolitical tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. Prior to the withdrawal, Iran had successfully qualified for the tournament and was placed in Group G alongside Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand. The group stage matches were scheduled to take place in cities such as Los Angeles and Seattle in the United States. The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), in collaboration with the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), launched the fourth batch of the Directors' Certification in Corporate Governance for Defence Officers. The program began on 9th March 2026 at the IICA campus in Manesar, Gurugram. It is a two-week certification course designed for senior serving and recently retired officers from the Indian Armed Forces. The initiative aims to prepare them for effective roles as board members in public and private sector companies. The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the declaration of Madurai Airport in Tamil Nadu as an International Airport. Madurai Airport is among the oldest airports in the state and serves as an important gateway to Southern Tamil Nadu. Granting international status is expected to improve regional and global connectivity, facilitating greater trade and economic activity. Dr. Partha Biswas has taken charge as a Member of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), a constitutional body responsible for safeguarding the rights and interests of Scheduled Castes in India. He holds a Ph.D. in Defence and Strategic Studies and has pursued specialized studies in Human Resources and Human Rights at reputed institutions such as the University of Calcutta, Jadavpur University, and Kanpur University. He also received a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the Indian Council of Social Science Research at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. Dr. Biswas has contributed significantly to academic research through books, publications, and journal articles focusing on defence policy, strategic affairs, and international relations.

World Kidney Day 2026 will be observed on March 12, highlighting the importance of kidney health and raising awareness about chronic kidney disease (CKD). This global awareness event is observed every year on the second Thursday of March and encourages people to focus on prevention, early detection, and proper management of kidney-related diseases. The Indian Orchid Festival 2026 concluded in the Pakyong district of Sikkim after four days of activities that included exhibitions, expert discussions, and participation from farmers and entrepreneurs. The event was organised by the ICAR-National Research Centre for Orchids with the theme “Orchids for Beauty & Prosperity.” It brought together orchid growers, nursery owners, researchers, and floriculture experts from across the country. The NXT Conclave 2026 is scheduled to take place from 12th to 14th March 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, which is located in New Delhi, the capital city of India. The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with the Indian Navy, successfully carried out four in-flight release trials of the indigenous Air Droppable Container (ADC-150). The trials were conducted from a P8I aircraft off the coast of Goa between February 21 and March 01, 2026, under various extreme release conditions. The ADC-150 is designed to carry and deliver a payload of 150 kg to naval ships operating in distant waters. This system enables rapid delivery of essential supplies such as equipment, critical stores, and medical aid to vessels in distress. The Naval Science & Technological Laboratory in Visakhapatnam served as the nodal laboratory, with support from other DRDO units for parachute systems, certification, and instrumentation.

Anant Rana, a 33-year-old athlete from Jamshedpur, achieved a remarkable milestone by successfully completing the Full Ironman New Zealand triathlon in 11 hours and 50 minutes. The challenging endurance event took place in Taupo, New Zealand, and includes three demanding segments: a 3.8 km swim, a 180 km cycling race, and a 42.2 km marathon run. Rana completed the swimming segment in 1 hour 28 minutes, the cycling portion in 6 hours 19 minutes, and the marathon in 3 hours 46 minutes. Finishing well within the official 17-hour time limit, he demonstrated exceptional endurance and determination. He is associated with the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation and resides in Sonari, Jamshedpur.

The state government of Gujarat has allocated Rs 1,331 crore to develop Ahmedabad into an Olympic-ready city, supporting India’s ambition to host the 2036 Olympic Games. This funding is part of a broader sports and youth activities budget exceeding Rs 2,000 crore. A significant share of the investment will be directed toward infrastructure development at the SVP Sports Enclave located near the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The initiative also focuses on grassroots sports development through the ‘In-School’ programme, which trains more than 1.29 lakh children across 230 schools. These efforts aim to nurture young athletes and position Gujarat as a major international hub for sporting events and infrastructure.

Bharat Forge inaugurated a specialised Landing Gear Components Machining Facility in Mundhwa, a locality in Pune, Maharashtra. The facility has been developed in collaboration with Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS and represents a significant advancement in India’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities. It is among the first facilities in the country to operate OEM-approved landing gear machining at scale. Equipped with high-precision machining centres, the plant will manufacture critical aerospace components. This development strengthens India’s position in the global aerospace supply chain. With this facility, Bharat Forge expands its aerospace portfolio, which already includes aero-engine components, airframe structures, and landing-gear sub-systems, with future plans for an advanced aerospace ring-mill.
