If a person walks at 14 km/hr instead of 10 km/hr, he would have walked 20 km more. The actual distance travelled by him is:
50 km
56 km
70 km
80 km
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Let the actual distance travelled be x km.

Then, x = x + 20
10 14

14x = 10x + 200

4x = 200

x = 50 km.

Present speed = 14 km/h & Regular speed =10 km/h.
Difference of speed =14- 10 km/h = 4 km/h.
That means;
If his speed more 4 km/h he completes 20 km.

If he runs at his usual he complete = 20/5) * 10 km = 50 km.

By ratio method, if time is constant speed is directly proportional to distance so;
speed: 10 : 14.
distance : 10x : 14x.
difference btw (10x-14x) = 4x.
4x = 20,
x = 5.

Put this in the usual speed 10x= 10*5=50 km.

Please solve this.

While covering a distance of 60 km, A takes 4 hours more than B. If A doubles its speed, A took 2 hours less than B. Find the walking speed using a simultaneous equation or quadratic equation.

Time = Distance/Speed.

For 10km/h,
T=D/S.
Let the actual distance be x.

Therefore T= x/10 -------> Eq 1
For 14km/h,
T=D/S
T= x+20/14 ------> Eq 2

By equation 1 and 2.
x/10=x+20/14,
x=50.

D= (S1*T ) - (S2*T)
20= (14*T) - (10*T)
20= 14T - 10T
T = 20/4
T= 5 hrs.

Therefore Actual distance where actual speed was 10km/ hr.

D= S*T
= 10km/hr * 5hr.
= 50km.

I hope this was helpful.

S=14km/hr d=20km

T=d/s, So, 14/20= 5hrs,

Now we have T=5hrs and s=10km/hr is the actual speed he needs to go.

S=10 T=5

Now, d= S x T.
=10*-5.
= 50 km.
That's all.

Let distance travelled be x,

Since the time taken is same here so,

time taken to walk 14 km more at speed 14 kmph =time taken to walk the distance at speed 10 kmph

(x+20)/14=x/10

5x+100=7x

2x=100

x=50

Let,
Actual dist = X(at-10km\hr).
x/10 = x + 20/14,
14x = 10x + 20,
14x - 10x = 20,
4x = 20,
x = 20/4,
x = 5.

The actual distance at 10kmph * actual distance.
= 10 * 5,
= 50km.
So, the answer is 50km.

14-10 = 4km,
10*20 = 200,
200%4 = 50.

First the question is find actual distance.

Then given: speed 14 kmph and 10 kmph .

T=D/S.
Actual distance is considered:x.
T=x/10,x+20/14.
x/10=x+20/14.

Then simplify the equation answer is 50.
