If a person walks at 14 km/hr instead of 10 km/hr, he would have walked 20 km more. The actual distance travelled by him is:
50 km
56 km
70 km
80 km
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Let the actual distance travelled be x km.

Then, x = x + 20
10 14

14x = 10x + 200

4x = 200

x = 50 km.

I think the answer should be 70. Because the actual distance travld is 50+20=7.

Am I right?

14km/hr - 10 km/hr = 4 km/hr(difference)
4km/hr - 20km,
10km/hr (?),
= 10*20/4.
= 50km.

14-10 = 4km/hr more at 14, 20km/hr extra distance.
20/4 = 5hrs.

5*14 = 70 is the answer.

@All.

14-10 = 4km/hr.
4km/hr = 20km travelled.
so 1hr = 5km,
then 10km/hr = 10 * 5 = 50.

Difference of speed 14-10 = 4.

Therefore 4 km ----> 20.

So 10 km to travels 50 km.

I am not clear with the explanation and I didn't understand this step x/10=x+20/14.

Hi, friends.

Here both times are equal for traveling x, and x+20 so x/10 =x+20/14.

Extra 4kmhr------20km more.
So 1kmhr------ ?

20*1/4 so = 5.

so 10km*5 = 50.

I'm not clear with the answer. Why did you take the time same in both the cases?
