A train 110 metres long is running with a speed of 60 kmph. In what time will it pass a man who is running at 6 kmph in the direction opposite to that in which the train is going?
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Hi all.
Here we have considered the distance taken by train coming in opposite direction in almost all the problems. So here why we have not considered the distance taken by man.

As of the direction the relative speed would be 60+6=66. Convert it to m/sec as required to the answer. You will get 55/3 mtr/sec.
So, 55/3 = 110/t. T = 6 sec and done.
So, 55/3 = 110/t. T = 6 sec and done.

Why add 60km/hr+6km/hr there is not mention in question like both object move in parallel if they move in parallel, we can say add 60+6 but why here is use like this?

Guys why don't you'll go through the formulas given at the beginning of all the topic as this will clear most of the questions asked here at the beginning itself.

Additive speeds are only valid for the objects moving in th esame direction. Here only difference is applcable. so the answer would be 7 sec approx.

@All.
The man is running right so so we need to find the distance travelled by him then only we can add with a distance of the train.

@Praba.
Your answer is wrong. How will you said diff is applicable. Because speed opposite direction. So additive is applicable.

The speed can be added only if the two objects moving in opposite directions and if same direction then it should be subtracted.

Moving in the same direction that's why 60 + 6 = 66
Speed = 66 * 5/18 = 55/3.
Time = 110/(55/3).
= 110 * 3/55.
= 6 sec.
Speed = 66 * 5/18 = 55/3.
Time = 110/(55/3).
= 110 * 3/55.
= 6 sec.
