Option [B] is the correct answer. The dummy activities are provided to show precedence before any activity. Here it is showing that after 3 we can go to point 5.

And the critical path is the one taking the longest time in cycle. There is nothing like we cannot consider dummy in critical path. 1-2-3-5-6-7-8-9 is taking 24 units that's why it will be critical path.

Critical path does not contain dummy activities. So B is incorrect.

Critical path.

The sequence of stages determining the minimum time needed for an operation, especially when analyzed on a computer for a large organization.

The Crictical path can contain Dummy activities.

So answer B is right.

@ALL.

As an Industrial engineer, one of the function in a project is to obtain an optimal solution. However, I would suggest those against option B to study the algorithm of network diagram as regarding selecting the critical path(s).

Which takes minimum time? Explain in detail.

Option D is the correct answer. The dummy activity doesn't consume any resource or time. So we don't consider dummy activity while choosing a critical path.

I think it is A.

Exactly @Neeraj. But according to the definition, critical path is the longest path and consumes maximum time. So, they are contradicting each other.

CRITICAL Path:

A critical path consumes maximum resources. It is the longest path and consumes maximum time.

So the order of the network is 1-2-3-5-6-7-8-9.
Option B is correct.
