Confidence is knowing and acting based on that knowledge without fear and over confidence is believing you have reached a certain level whilst you not. Acting beyond your capacity.

According to me, confidence is the ability to believe in one self and taking a bold step along with risk factors but over confidence is an act of over or surplus believing in once self for carrying highly risky things on one head without realizing the back ground and ones ability to deal with it.

Confidence is staying calm and cool and being able to do whatever task is being assigned in a proper way.

In my point of view, confidence is the key role that everyone should have and overconfidence is the one which is a negative quality that everyone should avoid.
Confidence comes when you know that you are capable of doing the work even though you are not capable enough you should be confident in some situations.

For an example, A student is preparing for his exams from the beginning. He says that 'he surely score good marks in his examination' is Confidence. But if another student is preparing at last minute says that "he too scores good marks" is Over confidence.

I am able to do something and I say I can do it, its called confidence.
