Confidence is characterised by having positive and realistic beliefs in your abilities.
Overconfidence is when you have an excessive belief in your abilities; it can cause you to underestimate something and make mistakes.

According to me, Confidence is the way of expressing your thoughts positively and as well as appreciating other's way of thinking.
But, overconfidence is thinking that you are the only one who is right and others aren't.

Confidence is something that gives you courage to tackle difficult situations with a cool mind.
On the other hand, Over confidence gives you prior feel of success which restrict one to make efforts to accomplish a task.

The difference between confidence and overconfidence is that confidence means the belief in yourself through your hard work. But overconfidence means you are thinking that you are the only person capable to do that work.

Confidence means you have the guts to pass or fail on something. It is the shaky part of passing and failing.
And for over confidence you only have the guts to pass. You don't think about failure. And it is dangerous.

In confidence, there is awareness of self. One has an accurate understanding of one's ability. Whereas in overconfidence, there is a lack of awareness of self where the person exaggerates his ability to execute things.

Confidence : Strong, self-confidence and assertion that you will accomplish this task.
Overconfidence: brash, careless, cocky, presumptuous, pushy, reckless, cocksure, foolhardy, heedless, overweening, self-assertive.

I think this is the correct time to recall the tortoise and rabbit story.
In that story, the rabbit has over confidence for that reason it loses the race.
But tortoise has confidence for that reason it won the race.

Confidence is like I will complete my work with all my efforts and over confident is like no one keep effort like me on given task I can only finish it no other. Here we can take turtle and rabbit story as an example.

There's a thin line between confidence and overconfidence. If I say something and I proved it right then it is confidence but if I could not prove it and then verbally saying the opposite that's called overconfidence.
