Hello everyone, I would to like to share my thoughts on this topic.

Like a coin, social media have 2 sides. On the positive side, it helps us to connect with people worldwide and provide facilities to communicate across different regions also build relationships and stay updated on global events.

However, on the flip side, social media has negative impacts. Many users are under 18, unfortunately, social media algorithms are not always efficient in filtering content based on age. It can be harmful to their mental and emotional well-being. Sometimes most youths spend their precious time using social media.

So, Undoubtedly social media helps to connect people also raises concerns about safety, privacy, and quality of content which is being shared.

Good morning everyone.

I am Nitish and I would like to introduce this topic in front of you all 'How social networking sites affect us'.

Like every coin has two sides so this also has. Talking about merit its extreme importance arises when it connects loved ones separated very far by geographical distance examples of such sites are Facebook and WhatsApp which are available in almost every smartphone. In the corporate world, it connects like-minded people for their growth and various career opportunities example of this is LinkedIn.

This can be also used by brands and small-scale startups to increase their scalability to common people through marketing and various means.

In present days many of the movements like ##mee too and all break through social networking sites.

Now diving into its cons, there can be no denying that I had spoiled our youth to a great extent by wasting their precious time. For ex, there is a well-known app called Snapchat which has a feature of Snapscore. So many people are just busy increasing their snap score rather than focusing on their careers.

There is always the risk of privacy and hacking of personal information which are used by various illegal companies to steal people's money and use their data in unethical ways.

In recent days it has become the major source of false or fake news which is a serious threat to the country and its people.

So to tackle these problems we have to follow a balanced approach by regulating these social media sites to prevent the flow of fake news and scams. At a personal level we can restrict ourselves from visiting social media too frequently but only to access useful information and engage with loved ones.

Good morning, everyone.

Today, I’d like to talk about a topic that affects all of us social networking sites. From Facebook and Instagram to LinkedIn and Twitter, these platforms have become a part of our daily lives.

Let’s first look at how these platforms benefit us.

Social media has revolutionised the way we connect and communicate. Whether it's staying in touch with family or collaborating with people across the world, these platforms make it instant and easy. They also offer great spaces for learning, career networking, and business promotion. Many people use them to raise awareness about important social issues giving a platform to voices that may not be heard otherwise.

But while social media brings convenience and opportunity, it also brings some serious challenges.

One of the biggest concerns is excessive use. Many people lose valuable time scrolling aimlessly, and that can lead to a drop in productivity. There's also the issue of mental health; constant comparison with others can lead to anxiety, low self-esteem, and even depression. We can’t ignore the rise in cyberbullying, the spread of misinformation, and the threat to our privacy.

Now the question is — how can we manage these downsides?

A good start is by being intentional with how we use social media. Set time limits, take digital breaks, and avoid using it out of boredom. Before sharing anything, take a moment to verify the information. Adjust your privacy settings to control who sees your content and personal data. And if you ever face or witness online harassment, don’t hesitate to report or block.

To stay mentally healthy, engage in offline activities like reading, exercising, or spending time with loved ones. Fill your feed with content that inspires or educates, and unfollow anything that brings negativity.

To wrap up, social media isn’t the enemy. It’s a powerful tool, but like any tool, its impact depends on how we use it. Let’s choose to use it wisely, with purpose, and in a way that improves our lives rather than controls them.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

Social Media has both positive and negative sides.

If I talk about the positive impact of social media then social media is very helpful for students.

Nowadays lots of subjects are in school if someone doesn't have money to purchase a book then he will able to download the pdf of that book from any educational website, If we think about the students who are preparing for competitive exams like MPSC or UPSC.

The Syllabus of those exams are very vast, It is not possible to buy all the books so social media is also useful for those. Social media sites like LinkedIn and Naukri are very useful to find jobs.

Social media has also some disadvantages the young generation is addicted too much to social media sites like Instagram, and they spend lots of time scrolling reels, and because of that, they face mental and physical issues.

It depends on how you use those sites, If you use social media sites properly then it is very useful for you otherwise you face lots of issues.

Hello everyone,

I am Sanjay, and I would like to share my thoughts about the impact of social networking sites.

In my opinion, social media can be very helpful these days, especially for learning and finding job opportunities. Many students can discover their career paths through it. It’s a great tool for students to find jobs and internships, and to network with others easily.

However, not all students have the same mindset. Some students struggle with social media distractions, like spending the whole day watching Instagram reels, which is called mindless scrolling. This can cause a loss of concentration for other important activities like studying or playing outside with friends.

Social media has two sides—good and bad. Which side affects you depends on your mindset as a user.

Hello good morning to everyone.

My name is Sonali, our group discussion topic is "impact of social networking sites" as we all know of they are using social networking sites this pros and cons as well.

First, we talk about props - using social networking sites we gather all information about news, our studies, learning new things, meeting with people, and taking care of family members or relatives via WhatsApp, Instagram Facebook etc.

We do have not much time to buy something we can do online shopping to buy anything for us and whenever we want to share something we can deliver that product anywhere, where we want.

Using social networking sites we found jobs and get more information about companies.

Now we talk about the cons - if we use more social networking sites we become lazy we want all work to get done easily. Mostly wasting time by seeing videos, Reels, memes, and chatting which is a bad thing. We avoid meeting people physically, not maintain our day-to-day activities while using phones.

Using social networking sites is good when you utilise the time but you waste your time seeing social media like reels, and memes are bad things about them.

That is my point of view, Thank You.

Hello everyone,

I believe that social networking provides scalability for people and also provides various pros!

But the way you use social networking makes sense.

If you use social networking for knowledge and connection with long-distance people by minding the connection with offline people that's gonna be great. But when you use it for your entertainment all the time it doesn't make sense. Of course, staying connected with people by uploading our data may cause hacking. So we need to mind our limit in using social networking.

So my opinion, is that there is no better than social networking unless we keep in mind our limits!

Hello everyone.

My opinion on social networking sites is that it has both negative and Positive impact on the people. Some people may use it properly to gain knowledge or gather more information at a fingertip, and some may use it to earn money as most of the small ventures are getting popular through social media and many can borrow or share their ideas in social media which will be helpful to other people who are interested in that particular topic.

People can connect to their loved ones and friends through social media which will reduce stress and give a positive vibe for them when they are far away.

Other side it also affects many people as their whole day is just on scrolling which will be a part of their daily activities, as everyone in the early morning just they wake up and check their mobiles, as they think it is more important than their health.

So, I will say that social networking sites have both pros and cons but one can achieve anything through how intensely they use whether for good or bad it depends on the people who use them.

Hello everyone.

I'm here to share my thoughts on the impacts of social networking sites.

So to start with I would like to always consider this point any tool or technology which we use must have its purpose and that why it's designed to solve a problem or make a difference to the problem.

The same applies to social networking sites.

Though it has both negative and positive feedback among people one should know its purpose and try to understand how it helps the individual.

Because perspectives of the positives and negatives of technology, in this case, the social networking sites vary among people.

For example I would say social networking sites like LinkedIn make a person find who he is, and help to build himself by connecting and growing with people. Also, it gives a lot of opportunities to people to seek a job or get skilled or seek motivation but on the other side the same LinkedIn can be of no use to some others and they use it for video feed from or to just dm somebody.

So, my opinion would be if a particular person benefits from a certain thing by completely knowing his purpose, then it's fine. Otherwise, the impacts it creates would be negative.

Good morning to all the panel members. My name is Shanaya, and I would like to start the group discussion, so the topic given to us for the GD is the impact of social media sites.

This topic is of current relevance in my opinion, social media really plays an important role in our daily lives and is responsible for shaping a lot of younger minds. Since the emergence of social media through Instagram, Facebook, youtube, etc there has been alarming growth in the technology field. Like any other thing, it has its own pros and cons.

Talking about the brighter side of social media, I feel it's really relevant in connecting people all around the world within a single tap. It helps in understanding social issues. Government schemes, current trends and people's reactions to those issues, social media creates a platform where people sharing the same ideology connect together and form a community.

Apart from that, social media is actively used by small brands and startups for showcasing their work and talent and gaining customers through it. It also serves as an earning aid for content creators through paid promotion of a certain product, through review and also to show their talents.

Telegram and YouTube, which are widely used social networking app used by students to get access to online courses, educational content, mentors and students for free. All these are pioneers for the development of an individual and have a broader aspect of understanding.

LinkedIn, which is the most used platform for people seeking job opportunity our trying to create a good chain or contact with people who work in different companies, freshers use this as a tool get to know about the job vacancies and recruitment process.

During the global pandemic in the year 2020, people actively used social media as the only form of connecting with people.

As the younger generation tends to use social media more than newspapers and articles, informational videos and reels help them to understand the current scenario of their country or their area at ease.

It's really a powerful tool for spreading awareness and ideas.

Even though it has so many positive facts, we cannot deny that certain factors like doom scrolling through these sites and using it for entertainment purposes rather than for something beneficial wastes our time and distract people from their work and decrease their efficiency, as social media addiction has become a real issue.

Excessive use or dependency on those sites lowers out self esteem, increases tension, anxiety, depression and constant comparison with what we see on social media.

Also, cyberbullying and cybercrime are also a potential threat that we are facing today, as all our information is present on social media, which could be accessed by hackers, who could be easily used for any purpose include blackmail, so we always stay at the verge of risk of our data being leaked.

So. I would like to conclude this by saying that the impact of social media on us highly depends on how we use this tool, as it has its own perks in the development of educational, content creation, social awareness, business, entertainment and professional career.

And instead of wasting time on unnecessary content if we use it for our growth, development and knowing about various aspects of the world, then no doubt there would be no other alternative to replace it.
