The idea of smart city sounds and appears to be whimsical. First and foremost we all need to be on the same page about our country's economic status, wealth distribution, and sustainability. We keep telling and hearing that India is a developing country and it is developing since as long as anyone can remember, here we need a pragmatic approach. We should first concentrate on rural areas that are long due to development, we literally have villages that even today have no access to electricity and has little access to water. Such stats resembles our incompetency to do what should have been done decades ago. And yet here we are talking about building smart cities and bullet trains. Our primary focus needs to be on these pressing matters rather than chasing unrealistic goals.
I mean sure smart city comes with boundless benefits, but it benefits only the elites and the people working for elites.

Yes, it will be the big step of government for making smart but we also have to think about the people who live in small areas who belong to rural areas we should give them proper education and we have to encourage them for increasing growth of India I think without this we don't think also that India will become smart. Smart cities it's not mean that you know making big buildings attracted big MNC in India it's mean to educate people beacuse we know in India 70% of people who depends in agriculture and its source money so how will say that making smart cities creat people smart we have to look it both side, first of all, provide better skill, give them proper education, we have to train them, govt should have to make group of people who have to visit rural areas give them knowledge about policies of govt so in India there is lot of things to do beacuse the former is a back bone of India.

Hello Friends,
In India, there is need of Smar City is due to rapid migration of people from villages to city area and increase overburden over Basic Facility.
Like,
- Food.
- House.
- Road AND transportation.
- Education.
- And food.
In our India, 60% population is living in village and 40% living in city. Why govt will think for 40% people rather than the 60% people.
On one side govt was plan for Smart City but on another side in villages, there is problem of,
- Drinking Water.
- Unemployment.
- Health Facilities.
- Education.
- Lack of transportation Facility.
- Mobile network.
If govt could plan such way that the villages people are Make Happy in their own village by proper Employment And Education facility.
Then villages people stop migration from village to city and decrease the overburden over the facility if city. And it will not require to develop smart city in India.

According to my opinion, the Smart cities are those which are having proper facilities of clean water supply, healthy food, hygienic living condition, 24 hrs electricity. Ignoring these factors concept of the smart city can't be achieved. Thinking of Bullet trains, free wifi services, technological advancement without fullfilling basic amenities that one common person wants will not do anything in developing our country. We have to increase our literacy rate, maintain poulation sex ratio, reduce malnutrition, provides connectivity to rural villages, better wages to farmers. We should first think of women empowerment, increase employment, stop mob lynching, rape cases. After fullfillment of all these needs & facilities we can think of other requirements. So, first of all, make smart people, smart society as without achieving this it is pointless to think about the smart city.

The urbanisation has been increasing day by day. As a result, the government of India under the prime minister Narendra Modi on 25th Jan 2015 launched "Smart City" project. This project aims at building 100 smart city throughout India.
Smart City is a dream of many people which indicates the development of the country. Smart City will enhance the standard of living of people. It also contributes to the economic growth of our country.
Smart City projects will also help to provide a lot of job opportunities for many people. In India, 80% of people reside in rural and villages.
The government should also focus on rural areas. It should provide all the facilities that are not available in the village-like education, hospital, drainage, water, electricity. Etc.
Finally, I conclude that India really needs smart cities, which will help to make India as a well-developed country.

Many people have different ideas about the smart city concept. The problem is that the vision of a smart city is small and the idea is old. If you mean digitization instead of smart cities then it would sound better.
If villages of this country are developed then people will shift from cities to villages and if we concentrate on the cities itself then people will move from villages to cities (for their betterment and trying to achieve their goals and Desires).
But the name smart city is to High-Fi for small changes such as efficient processes in banks and governments and cleanliness and stuff you get it right!
So our vision must increase beyond these small imaginations! And we must have a smart city which will not be overcrowded.
Easy movement for people and have efficient transportation.
Your idea of a smart city may be much different than how I imagine it to be!

In my view, development of cities are important along with the development of the villages. As the city gets smarter the ecological problems also increase. We first need to focus on the basic needs required by the people of this nation. Health, education, civic amenities, well-connected roads, drinking water facility etc are the basic needs we need in cities, villages.
Along with smart cities, there should be a smart village, which should lead toward a better production of agriculture.
Yes, I believe smart cities might increase the economy of the country if it is well planned.
But if we come across present situation even the metropolitan cities face a major problem when it rains there. That is a major area of the problem.
So, the government should make the cities smarter in a well-planned manner and should maintain the ecological balance.

Yeah we definetly needs Smartcities it will be helpful in many ways I will explain that in diffrent steps.
Number one is Water management will be improved like it will be helpful in detecting quality of water, any leakage taking place, smart preventions to save it.
Number two is Mobility. In this we can easily manage traffic system, parking problems etc.
Number three is Energy. We can produce energy from new energy sources like wind mills, solar energy, heat, water etc.
Number four waste management. Waste management will become easy so wherever dustbins are full it will directly be detected from control room.
In last it will improve information and communicatin technology in urban services like in railway tickets, cab booking etc.
Information and communication technology means everything we use to communicate with the help of technology like mobile phones etc.

Hey everyone.
I'm Jitender As the topic is Do we really need smart cities, yes ofcourse we need. What smart cites means? It basically means that maintained sewage system, cleanliness on roads, proper railways system and well mannered safety system As we all are live in urban areas but more than 50-60% peoples who live in rural areas where there is a lack of employment, no proper electricity, no water system.
If we really want smart cities, first of all improve the condition of rural peoples, provide 24*7 electricity, water make proper roads and turn villages into cities by providing proper education, and create awareness among the youth.
At last I would like to say that we surely need smart cities, as India is a developing country and from day to day life our economy increases and technology also improves which has a great achievement of our country.
Thank you.

The smart city doesn't only include building industries and by technology i.e, by smart roads, first it should come from the people mind to think of it. The smart city includes may factors environmental, technology, empowerment and so on. , people should think in a positive attitude to follow rules and regulations of government in order to achieve the smart city. The government can't only alone make the city smart. The government should also make people aware of the smart city. For example, we already know Swatch Bharath is built in our country to make India clean and green. But what is it in making use of it? Nobody is using of it, they are throwing them in the roads or wastelands itself. It is also one of the major factors for smart city So first we should make people aware of the smart city and make them think of in a positive attitude and this makes successful.
