Of course, we can. Problems like corruption and poverty will always persist and people will always try to find fault with each and everything but that shouldn't deter a rapidly developing country to take such a wonderful initiative. They say that even god can't find fault with those who remain idle. Unless we can gather enough courage to host such a wonderful event, we won't be aware of our state in world economy. Also we very recently successfully hosted the FIFA U-17 world cup, so there's absolutely no reason why we shouldn't venture to take such a bright initiative. This would also provide our athletes a golden opportunity to brush shoulders with the very best and someday we might be bettering China or US' medal tally. And the stage would also be set to introduce cricket as one of the chief events.

Yes, of course, we can host Olympics we have the infrastructure and all the facilities required plus a bunch of good people who can manage this huge event. We know Indians are not that good in Olympics but in some era, we are good like badminton, hockey etc if India would host Olympics in near future Indians will do much better.

"Imagination is a mother of creation".

Yes we can although lot of things yet to be changed.

First and foremost, India is a developing country and has a bright future and our economy taking a long jump day by day. We host IPL each year which is given oxygen to youngsters not only in India but also in worldwide. For instance Shane Watson had taken retirement in 2007 before introducing the IPL game but when IPL start he played for RR and had a prominent role in the victory of team and immediately he taken his retirement back and join national team and still providing a role of all rounder.

Although reality is that in our country athelthics are being overlooked by government as well as people. We only enjoy cricket even, our football team could not enter in top 100 since independence, it's shameless thing for us. Hardly some people aware about our national game hockey.

If we are dreaming to host Olympics the we firstly focus on all sports game which are played in Olympic.

If we think practically this is not possible now. But if you say dream about it than I can say after 20-25 years maybe there is a chance we can host the Olympics. As we all know stats of 2010 commonwealth games. And if we talk about the Olympics we don't have any stadium in India where we can organise all the events. I must say before 20-25 years don't even think that it is possible at all. Until or unless everybody stops doing their jobs and keeps its all focus on this only. Then it is possible. But still must say Yes this my dream as well. I really want to see India hosting Olympics. Because this will become a proud moment for us.

I must say that currently there is no need to spend money on such ambitious and extravagant plans. India has lot of other problems to deal with. It would take a huge amount of money for the government to build a convincingly world-class arena to host an Olympic event. And this could make way for some high-ranking, influential and corrupt officials to fill their own pockets by using the government funds allocated to the development of arena to stage the event.

We recently saw that there was a strong feeling of dissent among the general public of Brazil and Rio De Janeiro in particular, because of excessively huge funds being allocated for the games while there were many problems in the management of the city which required proper attention and efforts to deal with. It was the public who would suffer when the city authorities could not have enough funds to keep the infrastructure of the city running smoothly.

Greece is another example, which is still suffering from a financial crisis partly because of huge spendings on the hosting of Olympic games in Athens in 2004. It is not that the hosting of Olympic games was the only reason for financial downfall of Greece- corruption in government has also played a major role in it. But allocating a huge budget for the games certainly took its toll on the relatively small economy of the nation.

And do we really need to mention that how badly we performed when it came to hosting a major sporting event in the form of Commonwealth Games in 2010? Do we really think that India has come a long way since then and has improved significantly on corruption index since then? Do we really think that the current ruling party is very efficient and "clean" enough to carry out its supposed tasks of "healthy and corruption free rule" without any issues? I think the answer to all of these is no. There are lot of issues to deal with at the moment and it is not wise to think of hosting an event as big as Olympics.

We are still at that level where the government is campaigning to encourage usage and building of more and more toilets and where you can find stray animals ranging from dogs, cows, buffalos, pigs and what not, roaming across the streets of the cities making it a ridiculously attractive sight for the tourists to capture and advertise the other side of the so-called "Incredible India" in their respective homelands.

Well, hosting such an event would, without doubt, make us proud as a nation and will give an example of our progress and potential power to the world. But it seems a far-fetched task for now and even if it isn't, it should not be high on the priority list of our government. Because it is the proper governance, improved standard of living, protection of rights of every citizen, unbiased judicial system and the dedication of the government to curb the corrupt practices, which all the citizens expect from their leaders in the first place. Such benchmarks should not be our priority right now and let such events be an opportunity for wealthy and developed nations to showcase their wealth.

In the long run, hosting of such an extravagant and glitzy event will only be as relevant as being a part of record books and history and might be occasionally asked in any of the competitive examinations here and there.

Hello, everyone.

I partially agree with some of my friends. What's my opinion is that there is no doubt that we are currently the world's fastest growing economy and we are able enough now to conduct world level event like Olympics. Yes, we have also done it in 2012 and showed the whole world by successful event commonwealth games. But do you think are we justifying by dreaming of hosting the Olympics?

No. Can you imagine out of 1.25 crores, around only 100 sportsmen qualify for Olympic or any world level event? What is the reason behind it? Only dreaming that yes we are able enough to host an event is not important. We need to think and it is a high team to analyse where we are lacking. India has a number of a sportsman, the only need is to provide them with a better platform. When we will have number sportsman more will qualify and the probability of their win chances would be more. I will say when our country will b more enough to produce a huge army of fit sports person who can challenge any country in terms of any sports event. Then we can dream of organising Olympics. Is it not shocking for you all, that out of 1.25 crore Indians the only girl Deepa Karmaker belongs to Gymnast. Think Here we are lacking. We need to increase this number. So we need to work on providing better platform better environment to all the Indian who wants to live their life as successful sportsmen. Whenever we see the country organising Olympic they compete more strongly. More no of gold silver & bronze medal. And we only expect at least one medal should come for India. So, guys, our expectation must be high & it is only possible when we will have abundant sportsmen in each n every sports event. If it happens then we can dream of having Olympics in our country.

Thank you.

Now, India is not prepared for hosting this mega event "Olympics" because of lack of infrastructure problem, corruption problem, little support and knowledge towards other games like football, hockey, badminton, boxing etc. First, we have to develop a country in which every game get equal interest by every people of India. This is not only the responsibility of government but also all the population of India. Besides this corruption and lack of infrastructure is that problem in which currently is in progress. If we do continuously work towards these areas then after 5 years I think that there will be a proud moment of our country to hosting this mega event "Olympics".

Yes definitely we can, We just need to work on our infrastructural development for providing a proper environment for such a big event. Our country has resources and supplies that it needs to held such sporting events. We have successfully hosted cricket world cup, many a times, currently we are going to host junior FIFA world cup as well. Scams and scandals do take place but it nowhere means that we are not capable of hosting Olympics. Commwealt games, even after such scams and scandals, was a great success. Moreover, India is a country of Diversity there are lots of things that it can show to the world. Moreover, we don't even need infrastructural development of the whole nation. Some rapid development and changes in few developed cities and still satisfy the job, as it happened with Rio Olympics. Whole Brazil was not developed to host the Olympics only Rio was developed and the ultimate parameters for Olympics.

Yes, of course, India can host olympic games in coming time and it is also becoming necessary for India to host olympic because no other games in India are flourishing except cricket due to absence of proper ground facilities for various indoor and out door games, there are not world class trainers and stadiums present to compete with. So hosting Olympic will necessiate infrastructure for it which will be helpful gor aspiring sportspersons. And it is not a big deal for India to finance such game with such a large huge economy and inreasing GDP.

Instead India has a bad record of having a blot of corruption in commonwealth games. So to attract FDI in ames India has to first insure them a corruption free planning and execution for coming days. So India can definitely do it.

We all know that India is a developing country and it needs to be more developed. So at this time hosting Olympics in India will affect people's economy and their life. As we know that India is a third populated country in the world. If the Olympics happened here which requires huge infrastructure, playground etc due to which government will have to break the houses of villagers and their life will be like a hell. So our first priority is to think about the people who live in India and their needs rather than to organise such a big event but there is nothing bad in dreaming and here the question is asked about dreaming so we can dream of hosting this type of event after next 6-7 years when India will be a developed country.
