The Potential Energy is any type of stored energy. It can be chemical, nuclear, gravitational, or mechanical.
Sun has Gravitational Potential Energy.
The battery has Chemical Potential Energy.

Potential energy is defined when there is a flow of charge in between the poles (positive - negative), in the case of battery this happens.

Potential energy is that energy which is stored in body or object, so battery stored energy, it is potential energy. BHANU sun is both P.E & K.E.
