Topra Kalan is situated in Yamunanagar district, Haryana, approximately 14 km from Yamunanagar city and 90 km from Chandigarh. It is historically notable as the original location of the Delhi-Topra Ashokan Pillar, which was moved to Delhi in the 14th century by Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq. Archaeological evidence from the site, including Painted Grey Ware, Black-and-Red Ware, stamped pottery, and structural remains, suggests continuous occupation from the Late Vedic period around 1500 BCE through the Mauryan era and into medieval times. Ground Penetrating Radar surveys have revealed a well-planned, multi-layered settlement, reinforcing its significance as a cultural and Buddhist heritage site.

Saaral Vizha 2025 is a vibrant monsoon cultural festival celebrated in Courtallam, located in the Tenkasi district of Tamil Nadu. Known for its scenic waterfalls and misty monsoon climate, the region hosts this event annually during July. The festival blends natural beauty with cultural richness, featuring classical and folk performances, exhibitions, and public competitions. The Behdeinkhlam Festival is celebrated in Jowai, located in the West Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya. This sacred festival belongs to the Pnār community and translates to “driving away the plague.” It holds deep spiritual meaning, symbolising the community’s efforts toward spiritual cleansing, resilience, and unity. The celebrations are marked by colourful processions, rhythmic drumbeats, and the parading of large, decorated wooden structures called Rots. India’s first Global Conference on Manuscript Heritage will take place from September 11 to 13, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Organised by the Ministry of Culture, this international event aims to protect and promote India’s vast manuscript legacy. The conference will feature over 500 delegates, including global scholars, and will include exhibitions, conservation demonstrations, and workshops. It also marks a symbolic tribute to Swami Vivekananda’s 1893 speech in Chicago by aligning the dates accordingly. A key highlight will be the release of the New Delhi Declaration on Manuscript Heritage, guiding global preservation and research efforts in ancient knowledge.

On July 10, 2025, Maharashtra officially recognised Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav as a state festival, marking a significant cultural development. The announcement was made by Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar during a session of the Legislative Assembly. This move ensures government support, promotion, and financial assistance for organising large-scale Ganesh celebrations across the state. Originating in 1893 under the leadership of Lokmanya Tilak, the festival was historically intended to foster unity and nationalism during British rule.
