ICICI Lombard was fined ₹1 crore by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for regulatory non-compliance related to outsourcing practices, vendor management, and corporate governance. The lapses were identified during an IRDAI inspection covering the company’s operations in 2019. The insurer failed to properly classify and report event management services involving agents of other insurers as outsourced activities. During FY19, ICICI Lombard had spent ₹709.57 crore under sales, marketing and business support, including around ₹35-37 crore paid to agents of other insurers without proper documentation or classification in its Outsourcing Returns.

France is collaborating with India on the TRISHNA Earth observation mission through the French space agency CNES and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). TRISHNA, or Thermal Infra-Red Imaging Satellite for High-resolution Natural Resource Assessment, is designed to provide detailed observations of Earth’s surface temperature, emissivity and environmental conditions. The mission will study terrestrial water stress, coastal and inland waters, urban heat islands, glaciers, snow-melt runoff and other climate-related factors. France is contributing the Thermal Infrared (TIR) payload, while ISRO is developing the VNIR-SWIR payload. The mission represents significant space cooperation between India and France in Earth observation and climate research.

Sheetal Devi of India won her first individual World Archery Para Series gold medal in the women’s compound event in Ahmedabad. She defeated Kazakhstan’s Aizada Seidan in a dramatic shoot-off after both archers began the final with identical scores. Seidan’s final two arrows included two Xs, forcing the contest into a shoot-off. Sheetal Devi responded strongly by shooting an X in the decisive round to secure the gold medal. Aizada Seidan won the silver medal, while India’s Sarita claimed bronze after defeating China’s Wang Huiting. Sheetal Devi’s victory also provided an important confidence boost ahead of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games.

“Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow” is the theme of the 11th Ayurveda Day, which will be celebrated on September 23, 2026, in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The theme highlights the importance of Ayurveda in promoting better health and sustainable living while integrating traditional healthcare with modern approaches. The campaign focuses on three major pillars: integrative healthcare, evidence-based research and innovation, and community wellbeing with sustainable living. Key initiatives include the National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards 2026, the release of Standard Treatment Guidelines for skin diseases, and the launch of Ayush Vision 2030. Ayurveda Day has been observed annually since 2016 on Dhanvantari Jayanti.

Bandhan Bank launched its inaugural credit card portfolio in collaboration with Mastercard, marking its entry into the credit card segment as a universal bank. The portfolio includes four variants: Sparks, Ignite, Flare and Lumina, designed for different customer segments and spending preferences. Sparks targets Gen Z customers, while Ignite focuses on travel and grocery spending. Flare is a travel-oriented card offering golf privileges and Amazon Pay vouchers, and Lumina is a premium card with concierge services and airport meet-and-greet facilities. The cards also provide benefits such as fuel surcharge waivers, EMI cashback and EazyDiner rewards through a digital-first application and servicing journey.

JPMorgan’s Mauritius-based unit, Copthall Mauritius Investment Ltd, had its trading ban lifted by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) after depositing ₹2.96 crore in compliance with the regulator’s interim order. SEBI had alleged that Copthall and Mansi Share and Stock Broking engaged in manipulative trading activity related to the closing auction of the BSE Sensex. The alleged activity was intended to influence the indicative equilibrium price and benefit from benchmark-based options. Although the restrictions were removed and the entities could resume trading in India, SEBI’s investigation continues. Copthall Mauritius Investment Ltd is a Mauritius-registered company and is distinct from J.P. Morgan India Pvt. Ltd.

Sweden participated in the bilateral dialogue with the IndiaAI Mission under the Sweden-India Technology and AI Corridor (SITAC) in New Delhi. The dialogue focused on strengthening cooperation between India and Sweden in Artificial Intelligence and Digitalisation. The IndiaAI Mission highlighted key priorities such as compute capacity, datasets and models, application development, future skills, indigenous AI, start-up financing, and Safe & Trusted AI. The IndiaAI Mission operates under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and has an approved outlay of ₹10,372 crore. Sweden, whose capital is Stockholm, is a member of both the European Union and NATO.

East Zone won the 2026-27 Duleep Trophy after the final against South Zone ended in a draw at Chepauk, Chennai. East Zone secured the title based on their commanding first-innings lead after South Zone were dismissed for 336 runs. East Zone had scored 708 runs in their first innings and later declared at 388/7, leaving South Zone with no realistic opportunity to force a result. Kounain Quraishi was one of the highlights of the final, scoring an unbeaten 116 for his maiden first-class century. Captain Ishan Kishan also played a crucial role, scoring 270 and 80 and earning the Player of the Match award.

Karnataka approved the Karnataka Aerospace Policy 2026-31 to promote investment in aerospace technology and manufacturing across the state. The policy provides subsidy assistance to aerospace-related ventures in focus and non-focus areas and aims to strengthen Karnataka’s position as a major aerospace manufacturing destination. The Cabinet also approved incentives for industries investing in backward and most backward taluks, covering sectors such as aerospace, defence, automobiles, electric vehicles, electronics and semiconductors. Other measures include the Shramika Nivas scheme for industrial workers, employment-based incentives, and improvements to taluk hospitals. The policy forms part of Karnataka’s broader strategy to attract industries, create employment and reduce regional imbalances.

Assam signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with six organisations to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology into its school education system. The partnerships were established through Samagra Shiksha Assam to create a learner-centric education ecosystem. IIT Madras and Bodhan AI will jointly work on building AI proficiency among 1 lakh teachers of Grades 6-12, with the training targeted for completion by May 2027. Google will support teachers through AI-powered educational tools, digital skills development and professional training. Other partnerships will focus on AI-enabled assessment of reading fluency and personalised learning in foundational literacy and numeracy.

Adani Defence & Aerospace signed a five-year agreement with Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL) to supply indigenous 7.62x39 mm small-calibre ammunition for the AK-203 assault rifle programme. The ammunition will be manufactured at Adani Defence’s facility in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The agreement supports the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative by strengthening domestic defence manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports. Adani Defence also facilitated the production of the first 100% indigenous AK-203 rifle, named ‘Sher’. The AK-203 has an effective range of up to 800 metres and a firing rate of 700 rounds per minute.
