India will host the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 after the ICC transferred the hosting rights from Sri Lanka. Mahindra Aerostructures received a multi-year contract from Airbus to manufacture and supply fuselage skins for the A320 aircraft family. Production will take place at Mahindra Aerostructures’ facility in Bengaluru, India, with finished components supplied to Airbus’ manufacturing plant in Augsburg, Germany. Tamil Nadu has announced plans to establish a world-class Olympic City in Chennai, aiming to strengthen sports infrastructure and athlete development in the state. The Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority will be involved in developing the proposed integrated sports complex. The Olympic City is expected to feature world-class sports arenas, modern sporting equipment, a high-performance training centre, and dedicated sports science and sports medicine centres. RAINCHNNAI is a rainfall-based weather futures contract launched by the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) to help manage financial risks associated with the Northeast Monsoon. The contract covers rainfall variability from September to December and is based on Cumulative Deviation Rainfall from the Long Period Average. It uses rainfall data from the India Meteorological Department’s Meenambakkam and Nungambakkam stations. The contract is cash-settled based on the CDR spot value. RAINCHNNAI complements the RAINMUMBAI contract and is particularly significant because the Northeast Monsoon contributes approximately 70% of Chennai’s annual rainfall.

FLY91 is the Goa-based regional airline that former Indian Air Force Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman joined as a commercial pilot in August 2026. After nearly 22 years of service in the IAF, Varthaman resigned from military service on March 31, 2026, and transitioned to civilian aviation. He subsequently began type rating and other mandatory procedures required for regional commercial flying. FLY91 commenced commercial operations in March 2024 and operates ATR 72-600 aircraft, focusing on regional connectivity between smaller cities and markets. As of September 3, 2026, the airline had six ATR 72-600 aircraft in its fleet.

The University of Hyderabad collaborated with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in the research and development of BAM-H24, a high-energy compound intended for potential use in next-generation solid rocket propulsion systems. Tamil Nadu introduced the Tamil Nadu Business Facilitation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, proposing a 21-day limit for processing various business and regulatory clearances. The proposed timeline would apply where existing state legislation provides a period longer than 21 days or does not specify a processing period. Public and local holidays would be excluded when calculating the 21-day period, while timelines shorter than 21 days would remain unchanged. The Bill also proposes establishing the Tamil Nadu Investment Promotion Commission, headed by the Chief Secretary, to monitor major investments involving significant capital, employment generation, free trade agreements, and other specified categories.
