Jupiter Wagons Ltd entered into a strategic partnership with Italy’s Lucchini RS Holding on August 4, 2026, to develop an integrated railwheel manufacturing platform in India. Under the agreement, Lucchini RS will acquire a 15% stake in Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory (JTRWF), while SIMEST SpA will acquire a 10% stake. The combined 25% stake is valued at €28 million, approximately ₹307 crore. The partnership covers the production of railway wheels, axles, and wheelsets across the complete value chain. It also includes integrating the existing facility at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and developing a new greenfield manufacturing complex in Odisha.

Norway is the home country of Noemi Aerospace (Elfly AS), which signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pawan Hans Limited on August 7, 2026, to collaborate on electric seaplane technology and sustainable aviation. The partnership focuses on technical knowledge sharing, workshops, feasibility studies, skill development, and capacity building for the electric aviation sector. Noemi Aerospace is headquartered in Bergen, Norway, and develops next-generation electric seaplanes. The collaboration aligns with India’s efforts to improve regional and island connectivity under the Make in India initiative. India’s Union Budget 2026 also introduced a Viability Gap Funding scheme to support seaplane operations.

Telangana officially operationalised Dial 112 as a unified emergency helpline on August 5, 2026, replacing the legacy Dial 100 police helpline. The system integrates police, fire, ambulance, disaster response, and women and child safety services under a single emergency number. It is operated from the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Hyderabad. The system reduces emergency call processing time by 30%, from 190 seconds to 133 seconds, and provides location-based tracking with 95% accuracy. Dial 112 is part of India’s Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), designed to provide a single emergency number across all States and Union Territories.

Gujarat imposed a statewide ban on the manufacture, storage, transportation, and sale of unauthorised analogue dairy products such as paneer, cheese, and butter on August 7, 2026. The decision was taken due to public health concerns after laboratory tests by the state’s Food and Drug Regulatory Authority identified substitutes made using vegetable oils instead of milk. Such products can mislead consumers and affect genuine dairy producers. The ban applies to food business operators, including hotels, restaurants, and caterers. Operation Trishul was launched by India to track and bring back fugitives hiding abroad through advanced technology and international law enforcement cooperation. The operation uses satellite imagery, surveillance, and digital footprint analysis to identify the geo-location of fugitives. IIT Hyderabad launched ANUGYAN, India’s first industry-academia orientation programme focused on the civil nuclear energy sector, on August 3, 2026. The programme, known as the Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme (NTOP), was developed in collaboration with Crimson Energy Experts Private Limited. It is a three-month fully residential course combining academic learning with industrial exposure. Tewolde Gebremariam, the former Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, was appointed as the new CEO of Air India in 2026. He succeeds Campbell Wilson, who led the airline during its initial stabilisation and integration phase after the Tata Group regained ownership in 2022. Gebremariam is known for transforming Ethiopian Airlines into a globally successful and profitable airline group by expanding international routes, modernising its fleet, strengthening cargo operations, and developing aviation training and maintenance facilities. At Air India, he is expected to focus on operational excellence, international connectivity, customer experience, safety, and the development of world-class aviation infrastructure.
