Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy inaugurated Phases II and III of the Godavari water project, a significant initiative aimed at meeting the state’s water requirements. The project will supply 20 TMC of water, with 16 TMC allocated for Hyderabad’s drinking water needs and 4 TMC dedicated to river revival. The CM also criticised the earlier government for stalling the Pranahita Chevella project and assured the construction of the Tummidihatti barrage. Additionally, emphasis was placed on rejuvenating the Musi river, taking inspiration from successful river restoration efforts like the Ganga, Yamuna, and Sabarmati. This project highlights Telangana’s commitment to sustainable water management.

The 3rd round of trilateral consultations involving India, Iran, and Armenia was held in Tehran, the capital of Iran. The discussions focused on strengthening regional cooperation with a special emphasis on connectivity projects, including the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and Armenia’s Crossroads of Peace initiative. These talks also touched upon expanding economic ties, enhancing trade, and exploring broader areas of mutual interest. The Sports Authority of India’s National Centre of Sports Science Research (SAI-NCSSR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IIT Delhi to advance sports science and promote indigenous innovation in sports equipment. This partnership aligns with the government’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Garv se Swadeshi by reducing dependence on imported equipment and fostering self-reliance. Core objectives include athlete performance enhancement, injury prevention, rehabilitation strategies, and inclusive support for para-athletes. A major highlight of this collaboration was the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Biomechanics Laboratory at IIT Delhi, designed to analyse athlete movement, optimise training, and strengthen India’s sports ecosystem through scientific insights.

Coal India Limited (CIL), in collaboration with the National Scheduled Tribe Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support the holistic development of tribal students studying in Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS). The initiative focuses on four major areas: digital access, career mentorship, menstrual hygiene management, and teacher capacity building. CIL will provide digital infrastructure such as desktops, UPS systems, and tablets, while also supporting career guidance programs and exposure visits. Additionally, the project includes health interventions like sanitary napkin vending machines and teacher training workshops. This MoU is strategically aligned with the goals of inclusive education, equity, and social empowerment, especially in coal-bearing and tribal-dominated regions.

The government of Uttar Pradesh has initiated a probe into the recognition of courses and admissions across all universities, colleges, and institutions in the state. Divisional Commissioners have been directed to set up Special Investigation Teams (SITs) comprising administrative, police, and education officers to carry out the investigation. Institutions are required to provide affidavits, recognition certificates, and detailed information about their courses. Any cases of illegal admissions or unapproved courses will invite strict action, including mandatory refunds of fees along with interest. This move underscores the state’s commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and quality standards in higher education.

The UPI–UPU Integration was launched in Dubai during the 28th UPU Congress by Jyotiraditya Scindia. This integration connects India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) with the Universal Postal Union (UPU) platform, making global remittances faster, safer, and more affordable. By linking the systems, India aims to enhance financial inclusion, strengthen cross-border digital transactions, and reduce the cost of sending money internationally. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a relief package of ₹1,600 crore for the flood-hit state of Punjab. The package includes not only financial assistance through the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and PM-Kisan scheme but also ex-gratia payments for families of the deceased and injured. In addition, PM CARES funds will support orphans, while reconstruction efforts will be undertaken under the PM Awaas Yojana–Gramin. India has committed to funding the construction of a modern Accident & Emergency Unit in Mannar, Sri Lanka, with a grant of LKR 600 million. The MoU for this project was signed by Indian envoy Santosh Jha and Sri Lankan Health Secretary Anil Jasinghe. The facility will be a two-storey unit equipped with advanced medical infrastructure, aimed at strengthening emergency care services and easing overcrowding in hospitals. World Suicide Prevention Day is observed annually on September 10 to raise awareness about suicide prevention and promote global action. The 2025 observance is marked under the triennial theme “Changing the Narrative,” which emphasises reducing stigma, encouraging open dialogue, and prioritizing mental health at all levels. Each year, more than 720,000 people die by suicide worldwide, making it a leading cause of death among young people. By dedicating this day, global organizations like the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) aim to foster compassion, evidence-based prevention, and proactive support systems.

CP Radhakrishnan, the NDA nominee, has been elected as the 15th Vice President of India. He secured 452 votes, defeating Justice B Sudershan Reddy, who received 300 votes, in an election that recorded a 98.20% turnout. With 15 votes declared invalid and 13 MPs abstaining, the contest was significant but decisive. A seasoned politician, Radhakrishnan has previously served as a two-time Member of Parliament and also as the Governor of Maharashtra. ZAPAD 2025 is a significant multilateral military exercise being hosted in Russia, with the active participation of Indian forces. The exercise involves the Indian Army’s KUMAON Regiment leading a contingent of 57 Army personnel, 7 from the Air Force, and 1 from the Navy. The key objectives are to enhance interoperability, foster greater cooperation among participating nations, and strengthen counter-terrorism preparedness.
