The Global Spiritual Conclave was held in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, with the objective of promoting spiritual tourism, preserving cultural heritage, and encouraging dialogue on responsible hospitality. Organised by the Tourism Department with support from the Ministry of Tourism, the event was inaugurated by Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. Ujjain, being one of India’s most significant spiritual and cultural centers, was chosen as the venue to highlight its heritage and potential as a global hub for spiritual tourism, making the conclave an important step in strengthening India’s cultural tourism landscape.

The Suru Summer Festival 2025 was held in Suru Valley, Ladakh, and became historic due to an unprecedented August snowfall. This rare climatic event transformed the festival into a snow festival, attracting global attention and highlighting Ladakh’s unpredictable yet fascinating environment. The inauguration was graced by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju as the Chief Guest and Lieutenant Governor Kavender Gupta as the Guest of Honour. The snowfall not only enhanced the natural beauty of Ladakh but also underlined the region’s distinct cultural and environmental identity, making the festival a remarkable and unforgettable celebration.

‘Project Aarohan, launched by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), is designed to support the educational aspirations of toll plaza employees children. The program, unveiled in New Delhi by Chairman Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav, provides scholarships, mentorship, and skill-building opportunities for students from marginalised and economically weaker sections. With an initial fund of ₹1 crore for 2025–26, the initiative covers 500 students from Class 11 to graduation and offers higher scholarships to 50 exceptional students pursuing post-graduation. Beyond financial assistance, the project also emphasises mentorship, career guidance, and skill development, ensuring holistic growth and preparing beneficiaries for future success.

The Super Garuda Shield is a major military exercise jointly conducted by the United States and Indonesia. It originated in 2007 as a bilateral drill between the two nations’ armies and later expanded into a multinational exercise in 2022, involving numerous Indo-Pacific allies such as Japan, Australia, Singapore, and several others. The 2025 edition is described as the largest ever, highlighting Indonesia’s central role in organizing and hosting the exercise alongside the U.S. This collaboration demonstrates Indonesia’s strategic significance in regional security and its growing involvement in multinational defence cooperation.

Teymur Abasguliyev, a senior executive from SOCAR Turkiye Enerji A.Ş., has been appointed as the new CEO of Nayara Energy. His appointment follows the exit of Alessandro Des Dorides and other European executives, who stepped down due to European Union sanctions linked to Nayara Energy’s association with Rosneft. An Azerbaijan national, Abasguliyev is an experienced professional with a background in finance and energy, having worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers and served as CFO at SOCAR Turkiye Enerji A.Ş. His leadership is expected to provide stability for Nayara Energy, which operates one of India’s largest private refineries and a vast retail fuel network.

Oman has announced its ambitious plan to attract one million Indian tourists annually, building on the 700,000 visitors from India in 2024. This initiative highlights the nation’s strategy to strengthen cultural and economic ties with India while diversifying its economy beyond oil revenues under Vision 2040. Recognising India as a priority market, Oman is focusing on high-value tourism segments such as luxury travel, destination weddings, MICE events, and adventure tourism. To support this, Oman has improved visa policies, enhanced air connectivity with major Indian cities, and launched promotional campaigns like ‘Focus Oman,’ showcasing its natural landscapes and cultural heritage.

International Dog Day is observed annually on August 26 to honour the invaluable role of dogs in human life. Founded in 2004 by animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige, the date was chosen because it marked the day her family adopted their first rescue dog, “Sheltie.” The celebration highlights dogs’ contributions as loyal companions, working partners in law enforcement, therapy, and rescue missions. It also spreads awareness about adoption, discourages unethical breeding, and emphasises dog welfare worldwide. By dedicating this day, people are encouraged to adopt shelter dogs and honour the selfless service dogs provide in society.

India has introduced its first-ever national guidelines for animal blood banks, marking a major milestone in veterinary healthcare. Issued by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying on 25 August 2025, the framework establishes standards for donor screening, blood typing, biosafety, and ethical practices in animal blood transfusion. These guidelines address the lack of structured protocols that often led to risks during emergency transfusions. By promoting voluntary donation, establishing state-level blood banks, and creating a digital network for real-time tracking, India is advancing animal welfare. The integration of the One Health approach further strengthens links between human, animal, and environmental health.

The ‘No Helmet, No Fuel’ campaign is being launched by the Uttar Pradesh government as a proactive measure to improve road safety. Running from September 1 to 30, 2025, the campaign mandates that fuel stations across the state will refuse to provide fuel to two-wheeler riders who are not wearing helmets. This initiative aims to promote responsible behavior among riders, reduce road accident fatalities, and enforce the importance of helmet use. The directive has been structured for coordinated implementation under the supervision of District Magistrates and District Road Safety Committees (DRSCs), ensuring effective enforcement across Uttar Pradesh.

The ‘RAN SAMWAD-2025’ tri-service dialogue was inaugurated at the Army War College in Madhya Pradesh. This important event brings together representatives from the Army, Navy, and Air Force to deliberate on critical issues of war, warfare, and warfighting. Organised under the guidance of the Chief of Defence Staff, it is curated by HQ Integrated Defence Staff and the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS). The dialogue aims to enhance communication, foster interaction, and improve cooperation among military communities. Hosting the event in Madhya Pradesh underscores the state’s strategic significance as the home of the Army War College.
