Woolah Tea, based in Assam, has secured a 20-year patent (Patent No. 567895) for its unique invention—India’s first bagless tea innovation. This product, known as ‘Compressed true whole leaf tea dips,’ uses a bundle of handpicked whole tea leaves (locally called eti koli duti paat, meaning one bud and two leaves) tied together with a natural string. This innovation eliminates the need for conventional tea bags, offering a more natural and sustainable alternative. Assam, renowned for its tea production, has once again showcased its leadership in tea innovation through Woolah Tea’s eco-friendly and health-conscious approach.

S.R.N. Mehta CBSE School from Kalaburagi, India, secured first prize in the 2025 NASA-NSS Space Settlement Design Contest in the 8th grade category. Competing among over 4,900 students from 25 countries, the school’s team of 11 students impressed judges with their innovative project “IRA,” a futuristic and sustainable space colony design. They presented their work at the International Space Development Conference (ISDC-2025) in Orlando, Florida, gaining praise from international space experts. India’s first Equine Disease-Free Compartment (EDFC) was established at the Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) Centre & College located in Meerut Cantonment, which is in the state of Uttar Pradesh. This facility earned global recognition from the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), making it a significant development for Indian equestrian sports. It aligns with international biosecurity standards, allowing Indian sport horses to participate in global competitions. A new species of the genus Garcinia, named Garcinia kusumae, was discovered in the Baksa district of Assam. This evergreen tree, locally known as thoikora, can grow up to 18 metres tall and is dioecious in nature. The species was named in honour of Kusum Devi, the late mother of environmentalist Jatindra Sarma, who led the discovery team. Assam, known for its rich biodiversity and forest cover, continues to be a hotspot for botanical discoveries. The finding adds to the growing list of unique flora native to the northeastern region of India, highlighting its ecological significance.

The 23rd Asia Regional Meeting of National Authorities of States Parties was hosted in New Delhi by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in collaboration with India’s National Authority of the Chemical Weapons Convention (NACWC). The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) released the Global Liveability Index 2025, ranking Copenhagen, Denmark, as the world’s most liveable city. The index evaluates cities on factors like stability, healthcare, culture, education, infrastructure, and environment. Copenhagen secured the top position due to its excellent public services, environmental sustainability, and overall quality of life. Zurich (Switzerland) and Vienna (Austria) followed in second place, jointly. On the other hand, Indian cities ranked much lower on the index, with both Delhi and Mumbai sharing the 141st position, reflecting ongoing challenges in infrastructure, pollution, and public services.
