The irregular galaxy captured by the Hubble Space Telescope recently is ESO 300-16. It is located in the southern constellation of Eridanus, about 28.7 million light-years from Earth. ESO 300-16 is a peculiar galaxy, as it defies the conventional categories of galaxies. It has a chaotic appearance, with no clear spiral or elliptical shape. It is also home to a large number of star clusters, which are forming stars at a rapid rate. It provides astronomers with a unique opportunity to study the formation and evolution of irregular galaxies.
