SKOCH Group has conferred the 'Best performing Social Sector Ministry' award on the Ministry of Women and Child Development for the achievements in delivering the promises made and for its significant achievements and initiatives from the last 4 years. Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi has received the award on behalf of the Ministry in an event held in New Delhi.

The central government's ambitious public health insurance scheme 'Ayushman Bharat' would create more than 1 lakh jobs. The programme's CEO Indu Bhushan said that jobs would be created in health sector, insurance and in construction industries. The Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Mission (ABNHPM), aims to provide Rs 5 lakh health cover to 100 million of India's poorest families.

To honour soldiers who have been disabled in line of duty, while serving the Nation and to celebrate the undying spirit of 'Soldiering', Indian Army is observing the year 2018 as the 'Year of Disabled Soldiers in Line of Duty'.

Veteran director Martin Scorsese will be conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Rome Film Festival 2018. Martin Scorsese is an American director, producer, screenwriter, actor and film historian. He is widely regarded as one of the most significant and influential filmmakers in cinematic history. The 13th edition of the famed Rome film festival will run from October 18-28 2018.

Microsoft announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Bonsai, an artificial intelligence (AI) startup based in San Francisco, to boost its AI and machine learning capabilities. Based in Berkeley, California, Bonsai was founded in 2014 and has around 42 employees.

The government appointed Arjit Basu as Managing Director of the country's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI). He will fill the position that fell vacant following the elevation of Rajnish Kumar as the chairman. As per the SBI Act, the bank can have four managing directors. Mr Basu has held several key positions in various circles of SBI including the bank's office in Tokyo, Japan.

Under "Adopt a Heritage Scheme", three MoUs have already been signed and six are at an advanced stage and 31 more Adarsh Monuments are enlisted for coverage under the scheme. The scheme is being implemented by the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture and Archaeological Survey of India.

Canada has become the second nation in the world the first G7 nation to legalize marijuana. Uruguay was the first country to legalize marijuana's production, sale and consumption in December 2013. Medical marijuana is already legal in Canada.

The Union ministry of health and family welfare launched the National Health Resource Repository (NHRR), the first ever registry in the country registry of authentic, standardised and updated geo-spatial data of all public and private healthcare. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is the project technology partner for providing data security. It was launched by Union Health Minister J P Nadda.

French beauty giant L'Oreal has appointed Amit Jain as its new India Managing Director, making him the first Indian to lead its operations in the country. He succeeds Jean-Christophe Letellier who, after five years in the role, will take up a new position within L'Or?al Group. Jain has 30 years of experience with companies such as Coca-Cola, Viacom and AkzoNobel.
