This is an example of a pin jointed frame and as such, the formula should be D=n+r-2j.
where D= degree of indeterminacy.
n= number of member= 10,
r= number of reaction=3,
j= number of joints=5.
Hence, we have D=10+3-2(5)= 3.
where D= degree of indeterminacy.
n= number of member= 10,
r= number of reaction=3,
j= number of joints=5.
Hence, we have D=10+3-2(5)= 3.

How j= 5?
I think its 6.
So, the Answer is 1.

Answer is right.
m=12, j=7, r=5.
D=m+r-2j = 12 +5-2*7=3.
So, the answer is 3.
m=12, j=7, r=5.
D=m+r-2j = 12 +5-2*7=3.
So, the answer is 3.

m= 10,
j= 5,
r= 3,
(r+m)-2j.
= (3+10)-2 * 5.
= 3.
j= 5,
r= 3,
(r+m)-2j.
= (3+10)-2 * 5.
= 3.
