Given Data:
Pitch = p = 6cm
Rivet Value = R = 4tonnes
No.of Rivets = n = ?
Eccentric Load=P=15tonnes
Distance b/w Centre Line [ i-e Centroid (G) ] and Line of action of Eccentric Load (P) = e = 30cm.
Sol:
Formula:
n = (6M/R.p)^1/2 -------------(1).
Here,
External Moment=M=P.e/No.of Vertical Rows -------------------(2).
[I don't know why but according to the situation], The No. Of Vertical Rows = 2.
So, Now ,
Putting the values in eqn (2),
M = 15 tonnes*30cm/2.
M = 225 tonnes-cm.
Now ,
Putting all the values in eqn (1).
n=(6*225 tonnes-cm/4tonnes*6cm)^1/2.
n=(56.25)^1/2.
n=7.5.
Take it as n=8rivets.
So,
No. of Rivets=n=8 (And).

I do find out the formula for tearing the plate is P1 = S1(P-d)t. Here S1 is the allowable tensile stress, p=pitch, d=dia, t=thickness of plate and for the shearing of the rivet is P2=Ss (area of one rivet=0.785*d^2).
Here Ss is the allowable shear stress of the rivet material. So, from this two formula I don't know the "tensile stress" and "shear stress" and "dia of rivet", how can I determine the strength of rivet? Please suggest me.
Thank you.

The simple method to find no. of rivet is-it is the question of bracket connection so in this connection same no. of rivets are required on each flange to connect the bracket.
So each side required. Rivets are = 15/4 = 3.75 = 4 rivets each side, so total no. of rivets required both side for connection are = 8.
So each side required. Rivets are = 15/4 = 3.75 = 4 rivets each side, so total no. of rivets required both side for connection are = 8.

Strength of rivet in shearing and bearing are calculated and the lesser value among two is known as rivet value.

@Deepansu it meane 2 line vertical and Rivet is 16 according to formula (you take m =2) and in 1 line 8 rivet.

Total Revit will be 15 or 16 but if it is said that rabbit in one line then it will be 8 or 7.

=> 6m/snRv.
Where m =p*e,
S pick line,
Rv rivet value,
Answer is 7.5 = 8.

After calculating rivet value,
No.of rivets = total load/ rivet Value.
No.of rivets = total load/ rivet Value.
