3.

The price of 10 chairs is equal to that of 4 tables. The price of 15 chairs and 2 tables together is Rs. 4000. The total price of 12 chairs and 3 tables is:

 [A]. Rs. 3500 [B]. Rs. 3750 [C]. Rs. 3840 [D]. Rs. 3900

Explanation:

Let the cost of a chair and that of a table be Rs. x and Rs. y respectively.

 Then, 10x = 4y   or   y = 5 x. 2 15x + 2y = 4000 15x + 2 x 5 x = 4000 2 20x = 4000 x = 200.

 So, y = 5 x 200 = 500. 2

Hence, the cost of 12 chairs and 3 tables = 12x + 3y

= Rs. (2400 + 1500)

= Rs. 3900.

 Dilip said: (Jan 28, 2011) 15C+2T=4000 30C+4T=8000 10C=4T 30C+10C=8000 40C=8000 C=200 15(200)+2T=4000 3000+2T=4000 2T=1000 T=500 12(200)+3(500)=3900

 Premchand said: (Apr 2, 2011) 10c=4t then 1t=2.5c 15c+2t=4000 that is chair calculation 20c=4000 one chair is 200 12x200=2400 3t=7.5c that is 1500 total counting is 3900

 Martin said: (Jun 30, 2011) 10c=4t 15c+2t=4000 take the cost of c & t is 2000 b'coz 10c + 4t cost is same. and divid 2000 by 10 as well as 4 and get c & t cost as, 1t-500 1c-200 therefore, 12c-2400 + 3t-1500 = 3900.

 Manojit said: (Feb 7, 2012) @Lorna 15x+2*5x/2=4000 [2is multiply of 5x/2] 15x+5x=4000 20x=4000 x=4000/20 x=200

 Rashmi said: (Mar 13, 2012) 10 chairs = 4 tables => 5 chairs = 2 tables....(i) 15 chairs + 2 tables = 4000 (given) => 15 chairs + 5 chairs = 4000 from (i) => 20 chairs = rs4000 => 10 chairs = 2000 = 4 tables....(ii) => 1 chair = 2000/10=200 => 12 chairs= 200*12= 2400 and 1 table = 2000/4 from (ii) =>3 tables=500*3=1500 . . . 12c+3t = 2400+1500= 3900 (ans).

 Arshad said: (May 28, 2013) 10 Chairs = 4 tables. 5 Chairs = 2 tables. 15 chairs + 2 tables(5 chairs) = 4000. 20 chairs = 4000. 1 chairs = 200. 1 tables = 2.5 chairs. 2.5*200 = 500. 12C+3T = 12*200+3*500 = 2400+1500 = 3900.

 Manikandan.R said: (Jan 8, 2016) Please explain clearly steps.

 Bibarsha said: (May 22, 2016) => 10 chair = 4 tables. Then, 5 chair= 2 tables. So, 15 chair + 2 table= 4000/- (given). Means; 5c = 1000/-. 5c = 1000/-. 5c = 1000/-. 2t = 1000 (since 5c=2tables). Then, 1 table = 1000/2. =500/-. 1 chair = 1000/5. =200/-. Question is-. 12 chair + 3table = ? 12 * 200 + 3 * 500= 2400 + 1500 = 3900/-.

 Naveencool said: (Nov 22, 2016) Cost of 10C and 4T is same as 15C and 2T. Total - 4000 either you buy 10c and 4t or 15c or 2t. Cost will remain the same. Now 10c = 2000 and 4t = 2000 so 2000/10 and 2000/4 you will get- 200 and 500 so 12c * 200 and 3t * 500. Now you get 2400 + 1500 = 3900.

 Mir Mushtaq said: (Jan 25, 2017) According to me, Solution : One tab = 250. One chair = 200 Then 12c * 200 = 2400 3t * 250 = 750 Total = 3150 not 3900.

 Ashok Kothimerla said: (Jan 28, 2017) I can't understand, please tell me a simple method. According to me the solution. One table =250. One chair=200. Then, 12c * 200 = 2400 3t * 250=750. Total =3150 not 3900.

 Vaishali said: (Jun 24, 2017) Thank you all.

 Niveditha said: (Jan 23, 2018) 10chairs=4tables. Given that ( 15chairs+2tables=4000). so (6tables+2tables=4000) we got 6 tables here because 4T=10C so 15C=6T 8tables =4000. 1 table =500. now chairs. 10chairs=4tables hence (4*500=2000). 10chairs=2000. 1chair=200. now 12chairs+3tables=12*200+3*500=2400+1500=3900.

 Mohammed Rasel Rana said: (Dec 6, 2020) 4table=10chair. So 2 table=(10*-2)÷4 =5chair Again, 3table=(10*3)÷4=15/2 (5+15) chair=4000. So, 1chair=4000÷20=200 So, 15/2+12=39/2 So,(39÷2)*200=3900. Answer:-39000.
