Alfred buys an old scooter for Rs. 4700 and spends Rs. 800 on its repairs. If he sells the scooter for Rs. 5800, his gain percent is:
4 4 %
7
5 5 %
11
10%
12%
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Cost Price (C.P.) = Rs. (4700 + 800) = Rs. 5500.

Selling Price (S.P.) = Rs. 5800.

Gain = (S.P.) - (C.P.) = Rs.(5800 - 5500) = Rs. 300.

Gain % = 300 x 100 % = 5 5 %
5500 11

Final answer we got is improper fraction 60/11.

We convert it into mixed number so divide 60 by 11.

11)60(5
55
----
05

We write it in the form of 5(5/15).

Cost price (Rs.)(4700+800) = 15.5500.

Selling price = (S.P)-(C.P) = Rs.(5800-5500) = Rs.300.

Gain%(300\5500)x100% = 5(5\11)%

Alfred buys an old scooter for Rs. 4700 and spends Rs. 800 on its repairs. If he sells the scooter for Rs. 5800, his gain percent is:

CP: 4700 + 800 = 5500
Sp: 5800

Gain% = 5800 - 5500
Gain = 300

=> 300 * 100 / 5500 = 60/11.
=> 5(5/11) %.

C.P. = 4700 + 800.
= 5500.

S.P. = 5800.

Now,
C.P : S.P = 55 : 58.

3*100/55 = 5(5/11).

60/11.

Take a number in 11th table which is nearest to 60 ie (11 * 5 = 55).

Quotient = 5.
Divisor 11.

But we want 60 so add 5 in 55.

i.e (11 * 5 + 5/11).

Remainder = 5.

So, 5(5/11).
