A man standing at a point P is watching the top of a tower, which makes an angle of elevation of 30° with the man's eye. The man walks some distance towards the tower to watch its top and the angle of the elevation becomes 60°. What is the distance between the base of the tower and the point P?

No, @Jhanvi.

If you take h as the height of the tower, b as the distance from P to the base of the tower and when the person walks to a new point lets say Q, so take x= distance from Q to base of the tower. Now solving these we have tan30=h/b and tan60=h/x. We are left with 3 unknowns and only two equations. Therefore the solution cannot be found.

The answer is simple. (3 units).

tan30 = x / a +b
=> x = a + b /√(3)
tan60 = x / b
=> x = √(3) b
Hence,
a + b /√(3) = √(3) b
a + b = √(3) * √(3) * b
a + b = 3b,
a = 2b.
Therefore, 2b + b = 3b, in terms of b we get ANSWER as 3 UNITS.

No, the Information is inadequate. Moreover, the graph is also wrong.

The angle must be made from man's eye, not from the foot. The person is in standing position. Not laying on the ground.

The angle of elevation of the top of a TV tower is from three points a, b, c, in straight line through the foot of the tower are alpha, two alpha, three alpha then the of the tower is?

The distance between the base of the tower and the distance at which the man stands from the pole must be given. Otherwise this problem can not be solved. And hence the answer (D).

Value of H is not given, without the value of h we can't find the distance between base of the tower and the point P that's why answer is Option D.

This data is insufficient because not any perfect side given. If any perpendicular distance given than solve it otherwise not solve.

The problem contains 3 unknown variables in 2 equations. We need another equation to solve it. Hence data inadequate.

Height of the Tower or Distance travelled by man should be provided to get a solution of this question.

The height of the triangular in the form of the conventional. So it should be larger one.
