A girl counted in the following way on the fingers of her left hand : She started by calling the thumb 1, the index finger 2, middle finger 3, ring finger 4, little finger 5 and then reversed direction calling the ring finger 6, middle finger 7 and so on. She counted upto 1994. She ended counting on which finger ?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Clearly, while counting, the numbers associated to the thumb will be : 1, 9,17, 25,.....
i.e. numbers of the form (8n + 1).
Since 1994 = 249 x 8 + 2, so 1993 shall correspond to the thumb and 1994 to the index finger.

Ring finger is correct because we get 4 in unit's place only on it.

Total count for 8 fingers.
Therefore, 1994 divided by 8 gives=2 as remainder.
Hence 2 finger i.e. index finger.
Therefore, 1994 divided by 8 gives=2 as remainder.
Hence 2 finger i.e. index finger.

I divided 1990 by 5(no 5 stops on little finger and no 10 falls on thumb)since little finger not given in options we divide by 5..so we get 1990 on little finger.
Now count reverse 1999 wil come on index.
Now count reverse 1999 wil come on index.

It should be 8n-7 instead of 8n+1

I divided 1994 by 4 (except first time we are counting 4 nos for one side) so remainder is 2 we started with thumb 1, the index finger 2, so the answer is index finger.

The thumb finger gets the value 1,9,17,...etc. So the difference between each is 8. Now dividing 1994 by 8, we get 249.25 as quotient. So selecting nearby value for getting remainder as 0, 1992/8=249 which represents the thumb finger. So adding 2 which will give 1994 & the selection will be middle finger.
