A tailor had a number of shirt pieces to cut from a roll of fabric. He cut each roll of equal length into 10 pieces. He cut at the rate of 45 cuts a minute. How many rolls would be cut in 24 minutes ?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Number of cuts made to cut a roll into 10 pieces = 9.
Therefore Required number of rolls = (45 x 24)/9 = 120.

One roll is being cut into 10 pieces.
Rate of cutting is "45 cuts" per minute.
Now to cut a roll into 10 pieces "9 cuts" are to be made.
Which means one roll needs 9 cuts to be made into 10 pieces (hope it's clear).
Now, if 45 cuts are made, think of how many rolls have been cut (that's right) 5 rolls.
You can verify by dividing 45 cuts by 9 cuts (because each roll needs 9 cuts to be made into 10 pieces which give 5 rolls) or multiply 9 cuts by 5 rolls which will give 45 cuts a minute (which is the cutting rate).
Now if 5 rolls are cut in a minute,
In 24 mins- 24*5= 120 rolls will be cut.
Thank you!

1 role = 10 pieces [ roll of equal length].
Again,
1 role = 45 cuts [ cut at the rate ] & [ by giving 45 cuts in a role you can get 10 pieces of fabric].
So,
10 pieces = 45 cuts,
1 pieces = 45/10 = 4.5 cuts.
Mentioned: [He cut at the rate of 45 cuts a minute].
So,
1 minute = 4.5 c.
24 minute = (4.5*24) = 108.
Again,
1 role = 45 cuts [ cut at the rate ] & [ by giving 45 cuts in a role you can get 10 pieces of fabric].
So,
10 pieces = 45 cuts,
1 pieces = 45/10 = 4.5 cuts.
Mentioned: [He cut at the rate of 45 cuts a minute].
So,
1 minute = 4.5 c.
24 minute = (4.5*24) = 108.

Step1 : 1 Role = 10 Pieces.
Step2 : Rate of Cut = 45 Pieces Per Min ==> 90 pieces per 2 min ==>90 Pieces = 9 roles (from step 1).
So, in 2 min he can cut 9 roles according to this ==> in 24 min= (2 * 12 min = 9 * 12 roles) ==> 24 min = 108 Roles.
Step2 : Rate of Cut = 45 Pieces Per Min ==> 90 pieces per 2 min ==>90 Pieces = 9 roles (from step 1).
So, in 2 min he can cut 9 roles according to this ==> in 24 min= (2 * 12 min = 9 * 12 roles) ==> 24 min = 108 Roles.

Tailor cuts each roll of equal length into 10 pieces (clearly it was mentioned, so no need to consider 9 cuts and all).
He cuts at the rate of 45 pieces per minute.
so per minute he cuts 45/10 = 4.5 rolls per minute,
So for 24 minutes: 24 * 4.5 = 108 rolls.
He cuts at the rate of 45 pieces per minute.
so per minute he cuts 45/10 = 4.5 rolls per minute,
So for 24 minutes: 24 * 4.5 = 108 rolls.

When he cut 10 pieces of equal length he will cut 9 pieces last piece will already be of the same length.
That is why 9 cuts for a roll, Just like if you want to divide a box into 10 equal parts you will draw 9 lines and get 10 boxes.

In question not clearly define all roll fabric cut or 10 pieces equal length cut from roll fabric
If all roll fabric cut then the answer is 120.
If 10 pieces equal length cut then answer is 108.
If all roll fabric cut then the answer is 120.
If 10 pieces equal length cut then answer is 108.

120 is correct.
When you have 1roll, you don't cut on the sides, the terminals. We only cut the mid parts. Try cutting a piece of paper using a scissor, you will have 9 cuts not 10.

To cut 1 roll, we need( 9cuts/(45 cuts/min))= (1/5 min)
in 1/5 min, we can cut 1 roll,
in 1 min, we cn cut 5 rolls,
in 24 min, we can cut 24*5 =120 rolls.

Number of cuts in 1min = 45.
Number of cuts in 24min = 45*24.
Number of rolls cut in 24 min = (45*24) /9.
(as each roll needs 9 cuts to get 10 pieces).
Number of cuts in 24min = 45*24.
Number of rolls cut in 24 min = (45*24) /9.
(as each roll needs 9 cuts to get 10 pieces).

120 is correct answer.
Simply to cut the roll into 10 pieces tailor have to cot 9 times so,
45/9= 5.
5*24=120.
