In process annealing, the hypo-eutectoid steel is
heated from 30° C to 50° C above the upper critical temperature and then cooled in still air
heated from 30° C to 50° C above the upper critical temperature and then cooled suddenly in a suitable cooling medium
heated from 30° C to 50° C above the upper critical temperature and then cooled slowly in the furnace
heated below or close to the lower critical temperature and then cooled slowly

Annealing is not only one process and it contains more.

In that full annealing, process annealing, etc.

So in this question, option D is correct.

No. Answer is wrong because Annealing is done furnace itself only.

For annealing process -temp below or close to the LCT, so D option is right.

Answer C is correct because in annealing metal is cooled very slowly in the furnace.

Annealing is two types.

1. Full annealing (upper critical temp).

2. Process annealing (LOWER CRITICAL TEMP).

It is the process of annealing hence the answer is correct.

Answer is D.

Right @Tejaswini.

If "full annealing" is here, than it will be option 'c'.

Tejaswini said:   9 years ago
Option C is correct for 'full annealing'.

I hope the answer is wrong.

And the correct answer is option C.

The question isn't about annealing. It's about "process annealing" aka low-temperature annealing. And in this process metal is heated below low critical temperature. Generally 550-650 degree Celcius. So and is (d) my brother BORAH.
