Statement: The cost of living has gone up in India.
Assumptions:
- The price of essential commodities has gone up in recent times.
- Many luxury goods are available in plenty in the country.
Answer: Option
Explanation:
The cost of living is directly associated with the prices of essential commodities. So, I is implicit. II denotes an essential consequence of rise in cost of living. So, II is also implicit.

I think II is considered as Implicit by considering normal consequences but we are not supposed to do that, we cannot bring our own explanation in these type of question, we need to consider what Author was thinking, since Author hasn't mentioned anything about 'availability of luxury goods', only I is implicit.

I feel like the correct answer should be A since only I is implicit.
II denotes an essential consequence of rise in the STANDARD of living, not the cost of living.
As such, II isn't implicit.
Anyone care to explain why I might be wrong?

Ya Only first should be the answer, it is not asking for any luxury prices. Because they are optional, people can buy them for their comfort if they want. Luxuries are not necessary for living life.

How can an increment in the cost of living i.e. increment in rates of basic commodities have a relation with luxury items? Aren’t both different parameters?
Anyone, please explain.

Also disagree with E. Rich get richer. So the availability of luxury items mostly bears no relation to the middle class (which is usually used to evaluate the standard of living).

Even I think the answer should be A. Luxury items are never considered while evaluating cost of living.

According to me, A should be correct. Luxury items do not relate to the cost of living.
