I know that:.
1=I.
2=II.
3=III.
4=IV.
5=V.
6=VI.
7=VII.
8=VIII.
9=IX.
10=X.
& so on.
Therefore the given numbers are:.
5, 8, 9, 14, __, 20.
But I can't understand the explanation that each number is 3 more than the previous number because by this way.
5+3=8.
But 8+3 isn't equal to 9,
Similarly, 9+3 isn't equal to 14.
So how is it possible that the option [D] i.e. XVII (no. 17) is the correct answer.
1=I.
2=II.
3=III.
4=IV.
5=V.
6=VI.
7=VII.
8=VIII.
9=IX.
10=X.
& so on.
Therefore the given numbers are:.
5, 8, 9, 14, __, 20.

5+3=8.

Mohon, you made a mistake.
XI = 11, not 9 (which is IX).
Look at the question again. series will be : 5, 8, 11, 14, __, 20.
XI = 11, not 9 (which is IX).
Look at the question again. series will be : 5, 8, 11, 14, __, 20.

Its simple process:
5+3 = 8.
8+3 = 11.
11+3 = 14.
14+3 = 17.
17+3 = 20.
Soo here in the series 5,8,11,14,20 missing number is 17 so the ans is 17.
5+3 = 8.
8+3 = 11.
11+3 = 14.
14+3 = 17.
17+3 = 20.
Soo here in the series 5,8,11,14,20 missing number is 17 so the ans is 17.

4 = IV.
5 = V.
6 = VI.
7 = VII.
8 = VIII.
9 = IX.
10 = X.

18 = XVIII.
19 = XIX.
20 = XX.
21 = XXI.
22 = XXII.
23 = XXIII.
24 = XXIV.
This is the series.
5, 8, 9, 14, __, 20.
5+3 = 8.
Add +3.
14+3 = 17.
So 17 roman value is.
2 = II.
3 = III.
4 = IV.
5 = V.
6 = VI.
7 = VII.
8 = VIII.
9 = IX.
10 = X.

17 = XVII.
18 = XVIII.
19 = XIX.
20 = XX.
21 = XXI.
22 = XXII.
23 = XXIII.
24 = XXIV.
This is the series.
5, 8, 9, 14, __, 20.
5+3 = 8.
Add +3.
14+3 = 17.
So 17 roman value is.

I agree with the answer but I do not understand "each no is 3 more than previous no". Logic is used here is:
Series:
5, 8, 11, 16, ?, 20.
Hence answer has to be between 16 & 20. Here only option available was 17 which is option D.
