Directions to Solve
In each question below are given two statements followed by two conclusions numbered I and II. You have to take the given two statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Read the conclusion and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the two given statements, disregarding commonly known facts.
Give answer:
- (A) If only conclusion I follows
- (B) If only conclusion II follows
- (C) If either I or II follows
- (D) If neither I nor II follows and
- (E) If both I and II follow.

Statements: All mangoes are golden in colour. No golden-coloured things are cheap.
Conclusions:
- All mangoes are cheap.
- Golden-coloured mangoes are not cheap.
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Clearly, the conclusion must be universal negative and should not contain the middle term. So, it follows that 'No mango is cheap'. Since all mangoes are golden in colour, we may substitute 'mangoes' with 'golden-coloured mangoes'. Thus, II follows.

How do we add the middle term in conclusion?

Since middle term is coming in the second conclusion it won't follow (Rule 1). So option E and B can be eliminated. Then from Rule 6 we know if one premise is negative conclusion must be negative so conclusion 1 also won't follow. So option A and option C can be eliminated. Then D will be answer I guess.

We know middle term should not be used in the conclusion. Here golden colour is middle term then how it can be used in the conclusion. So its answer should be no conclusion would follow.

So only 2 follows.

The mango is a golden thing, and all golden things are expensive, so the mango would be expensive.

But in the second premise, only 'things' are said! No scene of mango in there! then why conclusion II?
