If person have a hard work so you can get the more experience and having the smart work comes the experience.

Hardwork:-one boy who does not have any idea about next exam syllabus and he is doing (Study) all the things. And of course, he will get good marks as he was doing everything. Its called hard work (without any direction).

Smartwork:- another boy who has an idea about next exam syllabus and he is just doing only that things which help him to get good marks. Its called smart work. (with direction).
