According to me, confidence is a positive and encouraging side of one's mind and overconfidence is a negative side of one's mind. So, I think that confidence is more necessary than overconfidence.

CONFIDENCE - Shows knowledge.
OVER CONFIDENCE - Shows fake attitude.
For example;
If I say I am suitable for this job it's my confidence and If I say I am the only one Suitable for this job it's my overconfidence.

CONFIDENCE is something which pushes our inner self to a level positively without any hesitation or nervousness, but at the same time.
OVER CONFIDENCE is something that suppresses our polite side and raises up an ultra energy of you only succeeding again and again, and no one can do better than you, which leads to downfall!

Confidence is like I will complete my work with all my efforts and over confident is like no one keep effort like me on given task I can only finish it no other. Here we can take turtle and rabbit story as an example.

Confidence is the inner factor of every person which we don't show in front of the person and it reaches our perfect goal. For example, if I hard work then I will surely get the job. (with positive attitude and self-motivated).
On the other hand, overconfidence our external image which we easily realize that we have. Which is never reach our destiny. It spoiled our way of our life. For example, I know I have got the job for sure. No one can with me (without any hard work).
