Hello, everyone!

In India most commonly understandable language is Hindi. It should be the official language. To address the whole nation, to make our nation unite, our great freedom fighters used the language Hindi, not their respective local languages. Why does our president, PM address the nation in Hindi or in English, (though they do not belong to Hindi speaking states) not in any other languages? English is a foreign language, to connect to the rest part of the world it should be used. I understand in a southern part of India most don't understand Hindi. But I am surprised why they are so hesitant to learn the language. To talk, to communicate with a common man of India who belongs to any part the country, India should have a commonly accepted language. Hindi is perfect for that. Let's make our nation unite, not divide by language, cast, religion etc.

According to my opinion Hindi and English both are equally preferable by the Indians but as a Indian I also prefer Hindi language because it is easy to understand as well easy to communicate. Basically, both the languages have its own place and people feel comfortable with their own languages. So its not the point that Hindi should be the official language of India. Official language should be decided on that what people talk easily and comfortably.

Hello everyone,

According to my thought, official language should be made to that language where each and every person from Kashmir to Kanyakumari will be able to understand and speak as well.

Every language is beautiful in its own way just like every festival of India is. So Hindi should me made official language but that doesn't mean we should ignore other languages because every language plays important role in its own way.

I think the debate on this topic is enough now. There are few states people trying imposing Hindi on all they don't understand how other non-hindi will suffer from it, they are just behind their own convenience forgetting about others concerns. This is not the situation for which south Indian states had joined to form Indian union it's destroyed attack on their mother tongue n identity. If this tussle goes on then its better all Hindi favouring states should form their own Hindi country n leave apart non-Hindi states.

Hindi must be the official language of India and it should be an alternative to English just because English is a foreign language who ruled us for hundreds of years. It should be like in France where after the French Revolution, French was made the official language although it was spoken in Paris only while 60% of Indians still understand Hindi.

Hi I am Nishesh,

Personally, I feel, in country like India where we have more than 100 languages spoken countrywide, having an official language would not work as to some population if might segregate. Instead, we can have a corporate language (as we already have English), and a National Language (Hindi). This would not segregate people and would also unite corporate people. Declaring any language as official will not be a good idea in such a diverse country like India.

In my opinion, Hindi should be the official language because about 40 percent people speak Hindi and if Hindi is official language than it is for those people and our country's most of population live in rural area where they communicate in Hindi so it is easy for those.

Yes, definitely Hindi should be the official language because except south's states we all speak Hindi and my mother tongue is also Hindi nd I wanna clear that now we know English so I prefer English but when we start to communicate in which medium our thoughts come to our mind? Hindi, then we translate it and speak in English that is the matter we should forget that Hindi is our cultural language so all should remember this.

I would say Hindi won't last for long. As many of our countrymen don't understand and don't speak. Everyone is developing, why should we Indians believe in our past. Don't live in past gone are those days, now Hindi won"t work. I believe English in Hindi accent should be our official language. Think of present, the past has nothing new to say.
