Plastic bags pollute our land and water. Because they are so lightweight, plastic bags can travel long distances by wind and water. They litter our landscapes, get caught in fences and trees, float around in waterways, and can eventually make their way into the worlds oceans.

Plastic bags are made from non-renewable resources and contribute to climate change. The majority of plastic bags are made of polypropylene, a material that is made from petroleum and natural gas. Both of these materials are non-renewable fossil fuel-based resources and through their extraction and production, they create greenhouse gases, which contribute to global climate change.

The production of these bags is also very energy intensive. To produce nine plastic bags, it takes the equivalent energy to drive a car one kilometer (more than 0. 5 miles).

Using these non-renewable resources to make plastic bags is very short-sighted, considering that the typical useful life of each plastic bag is about 12 minutes.

Plastic bags never break down. Petroleum-based plastic bags do not truly degrade. What does occur is that when out in the environment, the plastic breaks up into tiny little pieces that end up in the ocean to be consumed by wildlife. Today, there are an estimated 46, 000-1, 000, 000 plastic fragments floating within every square mile of our worlds oceans.

Plastic bags are harmful to wildlife and marine life. Plastic bags and their associated plastic pieces are often mistaken for food by animals, birds, and marine life like fish and sea turtles. The consumed plastic then congests the digestive tracts of these animals and can lead to health issues such as infections and even death by suffocation. Animals can also easily become entangled in this plastic.

Plastic bags are harmful to human health. Plastic fragments in the ocean such as those from plastic bags can absorb pollutants like PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyl) and PAHs (Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) , which are known to be hormone-disrupting chemicals. When marine organisms consume plastics in our oceans, these chemicals can make their way through the ocean\'s food web and then into humans who eat fish and other marine organisms.

Plastic bags are costly to pay for and to clean up after. While we may not pay for plastic bags directly when we go shopping, they are anything but "free" Plastic bags cost about 3-5 cents each, and that cost is then incorporated into prices of the items sold at stores. The cost of plastic bag cleanup is about 17 cents per bag, and on average, taxpayers end up paying about $88 per year just on plastic bag waste. So that "free" plastic bag isnt so free after all.

Plastic bags are not easy to recycle. As plastic bags tend to get caught in recycling machinery, most recycling facilities do not have the capacity to recycle plastic bags and therefore do not accept them. As a result, the actual recycling rate for plastic bags is about 5%.

Plastic bags have external costs. Beyond the costs associated with the production and purchasing of plastic bags by retailers, there are many external costs that are often not considered. These costs include the true environmental costs of resource extraction and depletion, quality of life loss, economic loss from littering, and wildlife loss. Sadly, such costs are typically not included in most economic analyses, but nonetheless, these negative impacts are very real.

There are better alternatives available, and jobs to go with them! Once a person gets into the habit of bringing reusable bags when shopping, it is not much of an inconvenience at all. Reusable shopping bags are very durable and can be reused many times over the course of their useful life. The manufacturing of reusable bags is also another opportunity to create sustainable products and the jobs that go with them.

Other governments are banning plastic bags, so yours should too or at least make people pay for them. To date, more than 40 countries and municipalities around the world have instituted plastic bag bans. The United Nations Environmental Programme Secretariat has recommended a ban on all plastic bags globally.

Hello dear friends.

I am glad to speak about today's topic "Polythene bag must be banned".

As we know polythene bag is very dangerous for environment and for the animal also friends in our India day by day polythene as well as garbage, is increasing friends is polythene bag is helpful to keep safe environment? Friends suppose we are using polythene this is very dangerous to our health also. Friends do you know how much time takes polythene bag to decomposes in the soil polythene bag takes time a lot to decompose in the soil polythene bag takes 1000 years to take decompose in the soil friends this time period is very long we have to use cotton bag, paper bag it is not possible to set fire on polythene bag they will create lot of air pollution this is not affordable for our health and friends government didn't take to action on this topic but we should start to use cotton is bag is correct but we can't use polythene bag friends we have to use lot of time polythene bag whenever we go to buy fruits, vegetables don't give with us please give me a polythene bag we should purchase cotton bag they will help you lot of time such like as a whenever you buy vegetable, grocery, fruits cotton bag is helpful for that time some time we have to avoid to throw polythene bag on open space some animals eat polythene bag we are human being we have all information about what is the good or what is the bad but animals don't have mind because they eat polythene bag and after some days animal die and friends we have to avoid that to use polythene bag if we are continuously using polythene bag our next generation is also follow this type of habit government how to manage that things our mind set is today we are using polythene but we argue on government start form yourself one day it will be done and this is right time to ban on polythene bag thanks a lot you are reading this message once again thanks a lot.

I will definitely use cotton bag whenever I go to buy somethings.

Hi, myself Susmitha.

Today am going to express my opinion about the plastic ban.

We all know that plastic is polyethene which is nondegradable leads to soil erosion further floods n further havoc to people and causes major health effects and damages environment n damages animal and marine life and also sudden banning of plastic will affect many workers who depend on plastic manufacturing industries.

Instead of banning suddenly, first, we should promote about 3R among people, govt should feel initiative and make strong rules like China like offering tickets or any gifts to those who collect plastics. And also govt need to make the announcement to shopkeepers not to give covers only the customers have to bring covers in order to reduce plastic.

In marriages and hotels also govt should need to make strict rules this may be difficult but local leaders have to focus on these.

I said that first govt should promote 3R ie Reduce use of plastic by using alternatives like paper bags, jute bags, cloth bags and build industries for this and provide employment.

Reusable of plastic. Before people start complete avoiding of plastic at least should reuse plastic bags more than once.

Recycle. Many articles are available on how to recycle plastic-like making roads and others.

But don't recycle plastic for plant pots because plastic has severe chemicals which may genetically change the plant n soil so avoid planting plant saps in plastic utensils.

Following these are difficult but in order to get good n great plastic (not fully at least less than now) free society, we have to be hard at our decisions.

It's not only govt responsibility it's our duty too to make India pollution-free.

HELLO FRIENDS,

Today I am going to tell you about "Polythene bags must be banned".

As you know, Polythene derived as Poly means unlimited. So every time one question comes in mind why polythene is dangerous for humans, animals, the environment, and for the whole Earth?

Answer- Polythene is a chemical polymer that cannot be destroyed. The life of Polythene is in the multiple of 1000 years. If somebody wants to destroy it in any different way then still polythene will make you harm.

1. If you burn it then it will release harmful gases and smoke which can kill the human, animals and our fresh environment.

2. If you put polythene in soil then it will damage the fertility of soil forever. Polythene will not destroy even in the soil up to 1000 years.

3. If you throw it into the ocean then still it will damage the water also. Polythene can also stay in Space also.

You can do anything but no one able to destroy it.

Today Many animals eat polythene and they have to face their die due to polythene.

Even you can get Polythene at every place on the Earth such as mountains, glaciers, oceans, forests, and everywhere on earth. This happened due to humans only who do not care about their Mother Earth.

But it can be solved with the help of the Government and the unity of the people. If government ban the polythene and recommended paper and cotton bags and if people also start the use of cotton bags than we can save our life, can save the lives of animals, can save the environment, can save our Mother Earth.

Thank you.

Hi Friends,

I don't agree that polythene should be banned. Yes, but I would appreciate if it will be produced in lesser quantity because it is actually affecting our environment badly. But solution starts when everyone has put a limitation to use any resource provided to us. I have seen that we have started using every resource badly which give such kind of results where we have to come with such strict restrictions.

I wanted to say that we should try to use less polythene and try to recycle it as much as we can. When I say recycle it means that we should use one polythene many times. I have seen a lot of people are purchasing polythene crazily. In super market, in mall everywhere. We don't carry any bag before we go shopping and when a seller asked us in the counter to add a carry bag for our items then we say yes without thinking twice just because it cost not more than Rs.5. But we never had a thought that it can cost our lives because we can't destroy or dispose of polythenes.

I would request to all the readers to recycle the use of polythene because it's not you who do this there are n numbers of people who do this.

According to the survey, India current population is 1,359, 892,158 and everyone is doing this on a daily basis. Because they purchase daily and to carry it, they need a carry bag, if this will continue then it will create a huge bad impact in the environment and every citizen of this earth will suffer alot. We are actually giving a very bad environment to our future generation.

Hello friends,

My name is Manikant Kumar. I belong to Kaimur district in Bihar. I have completed my intermediate exam in 2018 from Shankar college Sasaram, now I am pursuing BSC math Hons. My father's name is Mr Ranjeet Singh, he is a farmer and my mother is a homemaker. I have 5 members in my family including me. My hobby is playing cricket and listening to 🎧 music. The aim of my life is to join air force because I want to serve my country as an air warrior and I like to live in advantatures life and air force give me this opportunity. That's all about me. THANK YOU.

Now come to the topic which has given to me. Today my topic is polythene bags must be banned. Nowadays polythene is used in very large quantity which is harmful to human being and nature also. When we use polythene we throw it anywhere, on burning these polythene bags bad effect on nature and cause different types of diseases. Polythene bags can not be disposed, on burning it also affect our environment and ozone layer also, which is a most important layer for a human being, we use a huge quantity of plastic in our daily life like as polythene bags, glass, bottle, bucket etc so and so.

In my view, polythene bags must be banned and we should use other bags in place of polythene. We should use a huge quantity of such things which is easily disposed of. Thank you.

Hi everybody,

I think plastic bags should not be banned because nowadays it becomes our daily uses material. Also there are a lot of people get employed in plastic industry, if it would be completely banned the the would be unemployed. Plastic bags are also cheaper than other carrying material. Also there are many kind of products, we can not carry that without plastic material or we don't have alternative, for examples medicine some other FMCG products.

There are many negative impact of using plastic bags, like it is non-biodegradable, creating more water and soil pollution, toxic chemicals are used to manufacture and emitting different kind of non environment friendly gases while burning, which creates air pollution and make impacts on Ozone layer.

Conclusion:- Instead of completely ban of plastic bags or materials we can use the concept of 4 R, which is recycle reuse, reduce and recover. Instead of taking millions of job we can provide millions of job. They will work on this four principal and educate the people, with the help of this we can create unemployment and stop all this negative impacts. There are many countries like US they are using vastly the plastic materials but using as well these four principal. Our government should also take such kind of step, which will also help to the swachh Bharat mission.

Hello,

According to my opinion, I think polythene bags should not be banned. As it is very easy to carry. Nowadays 80% of the products are made up of polythene. So the end of polythene means the end of polythene products as well as bags which affects the company's productivity. It will not have any effect on its economic value but also will result in increasing of unemployment in the country.

So if any country has decided to ban the polythene then first it must provide its suitable replacement. The replacement which will provide the same solutions to the people and well as gives its better contribution towards the development of the country and to reduce the pollution.

Here if we move towards the use of paper bags instead of polythene bags, then after sometime we will suffer from many environmental problems because cutting of trees for paper leads to deforestation which leads to soil erosion. So paper bags are not a suitable replacement for it because we don't want a solution for some time. We actually need a permanent solution of it.

I think the use of polythene bags should not be banned. Instead of it, we should try to find a solution to reusing it. Recycling of polythene doesn't lead to any environmental problems as well as easy to carry.

First, we need to change ourselves them only we can Change the world.
